... not a dumb as fuck generation of kids who, according to you, we are supposed to pardon for their actions because being "plugged in " to the world is what they know. And then you're equating success with them, as if that plays any factor in this.
Pardoned? No.
Plugged in? Absolutely and constantly. Don't confuse their deliberate actions with ignorance.
Equating success? Different issue as their success is not in dispute. You're conflating here.
I keep thinking about all the PSA commercials that sound great to older people, but didn't work on the young. I recall the Scared Straight programs that did not move the needle on crime with the fake weekend of abuse by elders in a prison setting. Then there was "This is your brain on drugs". It didn't do a thing to curtail that epidemic then, or opioids now.
Now all I hear is hyperbole from wrinkly old men and women on TV pontificating to the young like that is going to affect change. When will you learn the lesson that these approaches make them rebel?
Who don't I pardon? How about the public in Florida.
Where's their cries to shut down the beaches in Florida? Oh wait, older people own the stores that are struggling for business. And they want these empowered young people to spend their ample disposable income. There are townships that are shutting down on Monday because Spring break ends this weekend. How convenient.
Who's not plugged in? Frowning old faces finger wagging on TV
I find it funny that in the political thread I started (that was shut down because our moderators had to break up wars of words between grumpy old men), that there was always a debate about Fox vs CNN vs MSNBC. Younger people aren't gettig their news from those sources. Try a Discord server, TikTok or SnapChat (and if you don't know what those are,
no you're not plugged in either. Can't they find younger faces to carry this message to the group they want to affect?
Who's not equating success? The media by not showing who's recovered.
Lack of test kits, masks, swabs. The list of shortages goes on. How about some interviews of the survivors from the 207,000 confirmed worldwide cases. If the death rate is 2% overall (more if you are older), how about talking about how long this group stays immune. How about more focus on why the young survive this better.
How about use some of that hard earned wisdom and skill to approach the young differently. Otherwise, you are just pissing your anger in the wind and all you'll get is an "OK Boomer" from the young.
