Another question I have is what you guys are telling younger kids, under 10? My area is still very low for infections, and neighborhood kids are still playing together constantly, but the parents are all talking about pulling back, and how to tell their kids without scaring the piss out of them.
Tell them the truth, without the fear. That there's something making people sick, and they need to stop playing with each other for a little bit until it's safe. They can play all they want online.

I be spitting wisdom to the youth like @4:00 mark of the video.

You are a cool dude Unique. I can also imagine you spitting a flow like Positive K's Exclusive.

At least in Vietnam they know how to talk to their young people. This dance video uses a song put out by their government about hand washing. It went viral with over 400,000 likes. They did this video a month ago and Vietnam only has 85 cases today.

It also inspired hundreds of copycat videos that are also being liked and spreading the message to young people.

If Nipsey Hustle were still with us, he would break through to the young people. We need Drake, Kendrick, Dababy, Lizzo, and Post Malone to come out with something musical for their following.

Not sure why you think board-forbidden personal attacks are "kind" or even okay. Not sure if it makes you feel better in some way (that would be sad). But you can certainly take a page from Uniquelyme. He presented his info in a calm way while disagreeing with what he believes I presented.

I ignore what is called "Internet Courage" on forums. Most people would not get away with uttering those words that came through their keyboard in real life. I'm totally okay with the discourse, but for the sake of the mods not shutting down productive threads, please direct your anger at the comments and not people.

Stay civil. And stay safe.

I am sorry for hurting your feelings, you are absolutely correct, I should not has said a thing, your statement pretty much summed it up.

I would love to stay safe, but in this environment it will take ALL OF US TO ACT INTELLIGENTLY!!!!

It's funny how it's 'the media hyping this up' until you or someone you know gets infected and gets sick....and then it will be all about 'thoughts and prayers'.
Already happened to people I know that are international travelers or exposed to people with partners that are healthcare workers. It is part of why I try to stop the misinformation that will needlessly clog hospitals.

It is why I tell people to look at the actual data instead of just the headlines, and use some basic algebra skills to understand what it all means. 50% of the cases in the US are in Washington, New York, and California. The pattern is not perfectly even in each state. We in NY can learn from Washington. We can all learn from China and Italy as they invoked intervention strategies at different times.

If the media was clear about what they didn't know instead of getting a talking head to give an oversimplified theory, we would be better off. No - "80% of the US" will not be infected by the virus even if the CA governor is trying to get funding for his state based on that number. Or even worse, partial truths like "Twice the number of men die from the virus than women". Look at the data and the actual numbers: in China are 2.8% of men and 1.9% of women; they are still assessing the data separately for Italy; they are trying to understand how the Washingston state may be skewed based on the nursing home deaths and their delay of action to this day.

None of this fits the ticker at the bottom of the screen and would require critical thinking on the part of the viewers. Instead, they appeal to 3rd grade reading levels, traffic in fear and worst case scenarios to keep you tuned in.

That wouldve been great if they couldve got one of em to make a song for social distancing.

I could see Tyler the creator or J cole or Kendrick making a catchy song for generation Z and younger millenials

While I do not know any of these musical artists that have been mentioned here for PSA's (a fine idea, btw), it's got me thinking about what if groups like The Beatles, Dave Clark 5, or even Elvis were to have made songs about not catching "the clap" or other issues from that era...

Everyone is entitled to free speech as long as that free speech doesn't cause others harm (like saying "FIRE" in a movie theater). It just looks funny when one person is talking and the other person obviously isn't listening.

I looked at multiple cable news channels chiding young people on beaches in Florida, but not one of them attempted to talk to a business owner that was serving the food and booze to these young people. Why? "The Economy" is the blanket answer. So the elders get to focus on profit, but the young people should be responsible?

The media is playing both sides and the saddest part is that I can't think of a single young person that pays for cable TV when they don't have to. Again, one person is talking (older) and it looks funny when the person they are supposed to be taking to about responsibility (younger) isn't tuned in or listening. Other than venting, how does that help us contain the virus?

I've said it in other threads that until there was a full lock-down we won't bend the curve of the virus. CA, NY, CT and IL are (finally) locking down all non-essential services. I'm hoping that on a regional level, NJ does the same thing. If we lock-down nationally, we may get this thing under control in a month and begin restoring elements of our economy back to normal.
Obviously the beaches should be shut down and businesses closed. You can't depend on SOME people to do the right thing, whether they are young or old. People will sell out others for money, and it's up to leaders to not be in their pocket.

The question now is whether oldfarts like myself are prepared to die in order to get the economy going again.
I am not, and I see no reason that my dying will be a prerequisite to the economy improving.

The far bigger economy jump start would be to eliminate the numerous politicians and media who have sold their souls to "winning" instead of being honest.

Trouble is in many cases they would just be replaced by the next Wacko in line.

Chloroquine shortages? PPE gear shortages? Vent shortages? I'm just a lil cynical, but I bet it's our politicians and Walter Reed Hosp that has all the supplies that were out there!

I’m not saying everything that’s being done is warranted. It’s seems to be overkill but....

When the lines on the “new cases” and “recovered cases” graphs intersect they’ll start the slow process of getting things back to normal. We have an obligation to do whatever it takes to expedite the process.

If I can die while financially supporting an AMP, possibly.
I am away right now. But as soon as I get back, plan to give my private masseuse a call. She has probably been very slow and I am ready with cash for a big banging. And I'll bang her on a weekly basis if it helps get her through these rough economic times.
