The shit will really hit the fan as more and more of our health care providers start coming down with this thing or just skip work out of fears. Ventilator shortages? Who in their fuckin mind would ever think they'd hear that? And this toilet paper craze? Don't need 50 rolls, folks. Hop in the shower and clean your damn ass.
Or stock up on Imodium

I'm down to using one ply at a time because there is not a roll of toilet paper within 50 miles of me.

It is interesting that Soylent Green was set in 2020.

Still amazes me how people can take the whole "99% Mild" result from South Korea and completely ignore the fact that early testing and treatment contributed to that success. The US is in no position to repeat that success. Even with a week of lockdown in, we still have no idea how wide spread the virus is. We do know where it's concentrated, but we're not following that up with targeted testing to identify more infected.
Agreed about Korea and us different. However the less than 2% mortality rate in NY is going to drive more to think of opening in about 1 mo again some businesses.

2% mortality isn't the only issue. The current drain on our medical system should be a lesson in not allowing waves of spikes to occur. The longer the virus continues to overwhelm our medical system, the more it will diminishes the capacity in terms of using up supplies and attrition of medical staff.

For the love of Keith Richards man. Did you intentionally post that pic after hitting the enter key 400 times? I had to scroll down forever to fix it. Don't post drunk.
I captured too much of what was before it and didn't realize it. Then because this site doesn't allow block deletion I literally had to keep my finder on the delete button for like 10m until all the other shit was gone just to bring that funny pic to the masses, lol

This site really needs to do something about the inability to delete unwanted shit on a reply.

There's no way to highlight what you want to delete.

Ive been saying this since the beginning. However lot of people are going to push back if they are going to lose their jobs and sink the economy. It's a tough balancing act.

I remember Sheryl Crow saying because she is a conservationist she never uses more than 2 sheets of paper to wipe her ass after shitting. I used to know her guitarist Todd and he gave me the dirt on her, lol

Typical Hollywood virtue signaling weirdo.
Typical across the board. How many houses does "socialism for everyone but me, Bernie" own. Or Al Gore, who's carbon footprint is probably as big as a small country.

In Italy if you are over 60 and are taken to the hospital because you can't breath you are shit out of luck apparently.

Hospitals are being told to only use ventilators for people below the age of 60 in an effort to save younger people.

BTW---Italy has a single payer health care system so for those here in the states clamoring for this type of system, you really might want to rethink that one.

Unless rationing of care is your thing and you don't mind your elderly loved ones being left to die, deemed unimportant as others lesser in age.

In the areas of greatest concentration only people having symptoms are being asked to get tested, sounds pretty targeted to me. Also, at today's daily briefing Dr. Brix stated, "....in the previous eight days the U.S. has tested more people than S.K. has in the previous eight weeks."

That's a very effective method to maximize test kits. But it doesn't catch low symptom carrier that are still allowed to walk about because they don't have symptoms. Especially now with a shortage of masks.

We're getting mixed messages.

Wait until what, you practically can't breathe to go get a test?

Wouldn't it be more prudent then if you suddenly develop a fever to go and immediately get tested instead of waiting and having a full blown life or death situation on your hands? Apparently this can go from mild symptoms to fighting for your life in the blink of an eye in some cases.

I wish officials could be more clear in what they want us to do.

Low or no symptom carriers are the hardest to detect until the virus takes hold, could be as long as eight days. Many false negatives with low or no symptom carriers. Kind of defeats the purpose of testing.

It would have been more prudent to test every one. Short of that, test those that came in contact with the sick person. But that's not the policy. Right now if you have symptoms, you have to get a doctor's note before they can test you. If you wait until you can't breath to see the doctor, that would be a bad decision.

As for ventilators: you'll find it's running short everywhere. That's more a reflection of having to deal with a crisis, and less with what type of healthcare system.

Not if you have known contact with someone that is infected.
