Why is it "scary-stupid"?

I am not a big death penalty person at all, but that seems a more justifiable reason than killing a kid for little more than taking a shortcut across my lawn as seems to be the case in some "stand your ground" states.
If your speaking about the "kid" I am thinking about, he was shot by a man whom the "kid" was in process of beating to death.
And a jury ruled it justifiable homicide/self defense based on the HUGE amount of evidence in the case and DESPITE the gross misrepresentation by the American press.
In Georgia the AOC was 14 until 1995.
Should we retroactively track down and shoot Rob Lowe?

No, I was not talking about the Zimmerman fiasco.

And no, I do not support retroactive changes.
OK then.
I do not believe there is any state in the US where shooting someone for cutting across your lawn would be considered justifiable.
And let's be real about this; 99.99% of people would never shoot someone for only that, regardless of the legality.
Stand your ground is specifically intended to protect people who defend themselves against a violent aggressor.
Similar to the "Castle Doctrine" which allows people to defend themselves against home invaders/intruders without having to barricade (which was always a ridiculous law).

I was watching a show on The Sun on Vudu.

One day it is going to expand to a Red Giant and destroy the earth.

I feel less concerned about Bob Kraft, Florida, breast implants, and other site wide threads.

I hope the star Betegeuse goes supernova within my lifetime. It is red and they say it will be brighter than the full moon. Would really be something to see.

Just a quick fact check. Betegeuse is about 642 Light years away. If it went supernovas today, we have to wait 642 years to see the result. If you do see it go supernova within your lifetime, it happened 642 years ago.

Yeah, I know that. And I think most others here know that as well. What I meant is that I hope it becomes visible as a supernova within my lifetime.
Will be spectacular.
The star that created the Crab Nebula was 8000 light years away, and the Chinese still were able to see it and record it with bare eyes a thousand years ago. This one would be unimaginable. Whichever generation gets to see it is extremely lucky.

Meanwhile, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, the two farthest objects ever launched, keep trucking along. When their nuclear reactors are spent in about five years, they'll go quiet. In 40,000 years, they will be approaching their first star outside of this solar system. Eventually, they may be the only things that indicate we once were alive.

They've been traveling for over 40 years now.

They might also tell hostile aliens where we are...or come back as a super intelligent AI to rule and or destroy us all...

Too late for that. If they find the Voyagers, they still have to find Earth. Whereas, we've been polluting the Galaxy with radio waves, and other signals that we think doesn't get picked up in space. Those waves points any one out there right to us.

I always found the Voyager missions fascinating. Both space probes did great work and now they have left the solar system. Their power will go out by 2025. We still pick up their radio signals. The computer systems on both probes were late 60s and early 70s designs. The approximate equivalent to a car key today and much less than an iphone.

It feels very much like living in the shadows of Giants these days, when you consider the accomplishments of scientists and engineers of these days compared to those of the 60s and 70s. Those guys launched programs in the 60s and 70s that perfected satellites, put a man on the moon, the first semi permanent space laboratory, the fastest plane ever, the internet and so much more. These days we focus on social media platforms, perfecting fast food, and being able to stream whatever TV show garbage we want when we need it. Our satellites are about 50 percent successes and we still have people who don't understand global warming and pollution to be real threats. We have immense computer capability but have really never accomplished what these guys did with slide rules and tenacity.

Yes. Amazing.
And then consider how long a hot water heater or a laptop usually lasts...

I believe the Voyagers, or at least one of them, contains a "map". In addition to a sketch of a naked couple.
