Hey everyone. I just got back from Tony's funeral. Beautiful day and beautiful service. Part of me wanted to laugh and part of me wanted to cry when his daughter was introducing me to Tony's friends and family saying that he knew me from the church where we both volunteered at! (Tony would probably add :ROFLMAO::cry: here...). The big man needed ten pallbearers and damn if those guys didn't get a workout in today. lol

Sorry if I'm posting too much. I wasn't sure about writing again and I'll try to refrain from writing more. So apologies if sharing this is annoying or redundant. I just know that a few of you guys who have written pm's to me wanted an update. Thanks again for all of your comments and kind words.

Hello MD2000
Too bad your handle wasn't MD2020.
You may be a great guy for all I know, but for "MD 20/20" I would walk through walls...
Come on man! I've already told you that you can find better bourbon at the same price point as Old Crow. Now you're endorsing mad dog! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: The only upgrade is prison toilet wine mixed with a pack of tropical punch Kool-Aid. lol. I thought I would make a joke. :)

Hey everyone. So today I went to the church that Tony and I had been volunteering at. Nobody knew what had happened so it was quite a shock to them. Some tears were shed and one woman in particular (a tiny middle-aged Chinese woman who I think had a crush on him) took the news particularly hard.

I'm going to share this story that I thought of today on the drive over.

Sometimes on the way to the church we'd stop and grab breakfast before volunteering. I think it was two weeks ago from today we stopped at a McDonalds. They were letting people inside again so we parked the car and walked in. Standing in front by the door was a really tall, skinny, gay black dude with dreads. He held the door for us and we thanked him. I could sense what was coming on the way out but didn't say anything. Tony ordered the 2 sausage egg Mcmuffins for $4 Special and a coffee.

On the way out the same dude opens the door for us and asks us if we could help him out. I brushed him off and kept walking. I get to the car and I turn around and Tony is talking to him. I wait for a minute and watch them. Then I wait some more. Now I start walking towards them and Tony is just listening to this guy's life story! I tell Tony we're gonna be late and we have to go. He tells the guy that he can only offer him one of his sandwiches and his coffee. They guy accepts them. Tony goes back in to get another coffee. I'm looking at the guy and he seems to be a bit confused and embarrassed. Then he nods his head at me. Tony comes out and says "Have a nice day, Mr. Trevor! It was a pleasure speaking with you!".

I pull out of the parking lot and see through my rear view mirror that Trevor is just holding the coffee and sandwich. In a way I don't think he got what he really wanted but what he got may have been in some ways even better. Tony just ate his one sandwich and said that he needed to lose weight anyway so Trevor was doing him a favor! LOL

I think the thing that I'm starting to realize is that you don't need to know someone really well to have a positive effect on them. From what's been written about here not many of you really knew Tony. But in some small way you all were touched by his warmth, kindness and empathy.

Thanks for listening, guys.
