First, I want to apologize directly to the young woman involved in this incident. I want to apologize to her for my behavior that night and for the consequences she has suffered in the past year. Although this year has been incredibly difficult for me personally, I can only imagine the pain she has had to endure. I also want to apologize to her parents and family members, and to my family and friends and supporters, and to the citizens of Eagle, Colorado.
I also want to make it clear that I do not question the motives of this young woman. No money has been paid to this woman. She has agreed that this statement will not be used against me in the civil case. Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter.
I issue this statement today fully aware that while one part of this case ends today, another remains. I understand that the civil case against me will go forward. That part of this case will be decided by and between the parties directly involved in the incident and will no longer be a financial or emotional drain on the citizens of the state of Colorado. Kobe Bryant's statement concerning his alleged involvement in sexual assault charges in an incident in a hotel room in Eagle, Colorado in 2003. Am I the only one that remembers this ?
He had a really good law team...

I remember it, but I was confused then about what happened, and I’m confused now.
Too many #metoo fake incidents, too many superstars accused For me to automatically believe the women. He seemed otherwise to be a pretty good guy and it’s hard for me to hold one incident against the rest of his life. probably wasn’t the only time he cheated on his wife, but that’s between him and her.

Yup. He was 24, and he misread the signals. The victim dropped the criminal compliant. They settled out of court for the Civil case. His wife forgave him. He had an amazing career afterwards. If everyone personally involved found a way to forgive and moved on, I figure that's what I should do as well.

I'm not judge and jury and I'm certainly not placing an indictment on what had happened. I'm just curious as to if anyone remembers this incident. None of us are perfect and most of us are not referred to as "a perfect example of class, fatherhood, and a mentor and role model of character". So when someone unfortunately passes and is revered in such a glorious light I wonder if folks remember their infidelities!?!

I guess someone remembered and will pay the price for reporting it as a reporter. She has received thousands of death threats since she posted. I guess it is better to not to question "Newspeak". Us older guys know that is a reference to Orwell's "1984". If you haven't read it yet you will recognize it's predictions occurring today. Every death is a loss and condolences should be offered and then simply move on. Don't shame or mock the dead or place them on a pedestal, just move on...

Especially none of us on here are perfect.

This dude was a basketball player, big deal. There are a lot more important things in this world to worry about than a basketball player. I can’t believe all the people who overreact about somebody dying… It happens every day unfortunately.
Just a tragic story is all, I have my own recent family tragedies recently too. It seems we can feel bad for all tragedies

I am not dwelling on it nor are the majority of people. However he was one of the greatest of his generation and he worked extra hard for that.

So, my .02. Being involved with military aviation for 15 years in my previous life I'm not buying alot of this. First of all nobody is above anyone else. Sick of hearing about a dude that can play basketball. So many of our military die all the time and nobody gives a shit. Second - an entitled rich person has the power to do as he wants. That chopper should have never been airborne. We are not talking about NAM era pilots here. That guy was in over his head for many reasons. He could have just put it down. Never should have been up in the first place but money talks.
Done with this. Tired of it already.

Was he still estranged from his parents, he was pretty open about this a few years ago. I believe it was over money, hope they patched things up prior to his death

I honestly don't understand why this helo, and I guess a lot of others, fly with only one pilot when taking passengers.

So you're up in the air with a group of passengers and the pilot suffers a heart attack.

Then what?
