Even Ben Franklin knew it. Wonder what his source was ?

“In the 18th century, Benjamin Franklin said, “New Jersey is like a beer barrel, tapped at both ends, with all the live beer running into Philadelphia and New York.”

There are dozens of articles about the condition of NJ finances. The taxpayer here always has to pay more it's never the government that sacrifices even a penny less. Even with high taxes look at NJ credit rating, they just keep spending. Now we need to borrow another 10 billion which hopefully will be ruled illegal since NJ requires voters to approve bonds.

New Jersey voters rarely turn down referendums.

The Village People say "it's for the kids."

The lemmings vote yes.

Lefty, I just spent 4 days in WNC - your new scene is filled with beautiful talent. I even saw One or two AMPs, but could not partake. Here’s hoping you have some reviews posted before my return visit. Happy hunting!

This virus has highlighted the weaknesses of this country. New Jersey is looking like a mess and the more they increase taxes to get out of the mess the worse the problem will get. they really need to start talking with all of the over paid, under worked government workers and negotiating some cost cutting measures.

Took a pandemic and a fiscal catastrophe to get NJ to wake up.

Murphy says legalizing weed is ‘incredibly smart’ to offset budget woes triggered by coronavirus

Gov. Phil Murphy said legalized marijuana sales could boost New Jersey’s struggling economy, which needs new revenue sources to weather damage from the the coronavirus outbreak.

Who knows, maybe some of the revenue will help off set property taxes and you will want to move back.

Legalizing weed would generate revenue to help the entire country. Should have been done about 200 years ago.

Offset property taxes?? I don't think so. Just more spending and raises for the teachers and cops.

They'll get more revenue, but taxes will still go up because NJ is in such a hole. Once they legalize pot, Murphy is probably hoping that people will be too stoned to notice.

Not so sure about more spending and raises for the police. Seems like almost all the Blue states have jumped on the de-fund the police bandwagon. Is New Jersey any different?

Murphy loves any public sector union. Pot is not the huge tax windfall people think. Many people have a preset amount of disposable income and you are just shifting sales of one to another entertainment item example pot now instead of beer. You will get an increase from people that would rather buy it legal than from a street dealer.

My libertarian beliefs say legalizing weed is fine. If New Jersey does it, good for them.

I won't criticize any state for a good public policy. I don't smoke the stuff, nor do I drink alcohol, but responsible use of either by adults is fine by me

11k is 1/3 of my retirement without annuity income. If either misses or I die the other has to go. Who will give NJ 80/90 K over 10 years. Amazon has a 10 million for 10yr tax abatement.
Across Rt 27 the larger Amazon is going up, 20 million abatement. Mayor spends to rip up athletic fields but needs a property tax increase for the students or the building. Why are we paying to school illegals
From around the world. It’s a crazy state. MD. NC . Cape Coral Fl. Seem to be the game.
I boat and fish. Hard to go inland. California family looks to Arizona or Montana as that state falls apart.

The general lack of responsibility among the populace concerns me. I do not use, and do t care who does in their own abode. However, Once Philly made possession a citation-grade offense, we got stoned drivers all over town and all over public transportation. Now it’s a nuisance for everyone vs a problem for a few.
