Technically, if its a one "woman" shop, it is exempt from the executive order:

"* Any business that only has a single occupant/employee (i.e. gas station) has been deemed exempt and need not submit a request to be designated as an essential business."

I was thinking the same. Some Americans are going to just eat themselves in oblivion. I usually don't have much time to eat when working and now i'm taking 40 trips daily to my cabinet and refrigerator, haha

I wouldn't consider this a full lockdown. The list of "essential businesses" that can remain open are below:

There will be people walking/driving around as usual but with 60-70% ish decrease in volume.

My personal opinion (speaking of NY), people need to stay the f*ck home so we can start limiting the spread of the virus ASAP. We are the epicenter of the virus in the country. The longer we take to contain and limit the spread, the longer it will take to start rebuilding the economy. Most corporate 9-5'ers wont be as affected economically but for business owners, it is crucial that the economic recovery begin ASAP.

  • household paper products
4. Essential Retail, Including:

5. Essential Services, Including:
  • trash and recycling collection, processing and disposal

The great thing about NYC is financial services, infrastructure, healthcare and construction are essential to the survival of the city. Add in food distribution and fine wine and spirits and we're able to ride out any storm. If they're going to force us to stay home they want us fat, drunk and watching the news. lol
