Yeah..all the rich people on the upper east side got some type of warning and left to the Hamptons on Friday..the hotel I work for is in the upper east side and it was a ghost town this weekend

They don’t need any tip. They figure the city is going to be a dead zone. If they are going to be lock up inside they would rather do in their Hampton vacation houses.

The Pope has asked that people not gather in large numbers, and to conduct their services without having people standing close together when possible. Most of the reason why is because churches were the main source of the largest spread in South Korea. Churches don't have to shut down, they just need to be creative to be safer. I wouldn't consider this a full lockdown. The list of "essential businesses" that can remain open are below:

There will be people walking/driving around as usual but with 60-70% ish decrease in volume.

My personal opinion (speaking of NY), people need to stay the f*ck home so we can start limiting the spread of the virus ASAP. We are the epicenter of the virus in the country. The longer we take to contain and limit the spread, the longer it will take to start rebuilding the economy. Most corporate 9-5'ers wont be as affected economically but for business owners, it is crucial that the economic recovery begin ASAP.
