New to the site and would like to be discreet while not breaking any rules.
I had a nice ordinary visit and drove off. About one mile down the road I get pulled over by a marked car and was told to pull into an empty lot. One unmarked truck was there with three plain clothes.
One pretended to know, and tell me, why I was there, what really went on, how long I was inside, etc. Then asked questions same as above (he already "knew" the answers).
I was really scared but didn't give incriminating answers and wasn't really threatened with arrest. But was told to "watch my mailbox" in so many words.
Obviously it was under surveillance, at least that day anyway, and they wanted/needed specific evidence of criminality from me, and anyone else they stopped that day.
Needless to say I've never been back but it was a good experience and local to me so that's frustrating...especially because it's still open.

Wow - very unusual tactic for LE - not doubting your story - but that's very poor police work. Police cannot ever detain (pull you over) you because they think you might have committed a crime. That would be laughed right out of court, and a DA would never try to bring a charge based on that tactic. Police must observe the crime, or take a statement from someone who observed it.
I've visited this spot several times and I cannot remember even once LE NOT being in the parking lot. Standing out of their cars, sitting in their cars, walking through. I've always nodded and gestured friendly. I have friends and family on the force and show a friendly face when I encounter them, in all settings.
I don't blame you for steering clear, that would rattle anyone's cage IMO.

I'm saying there are always LE in the parking lot and they are not to worried about. I can't say for certain why they are often there, but they are NOT staking out the spa. There is an auto tag place that does regular business for the state and county, a restaurant, a barber shop, or maybe they're just laying low in plain sight to take a break from policing?
