Returned to Office from Remote working

I am in the office 5 days a week unlike many pussies who wants to stay home. I can stay home but who the fuck wants to work from home... I could work in a mobile office / cafe if I wanted to but I just go into the office.
Screw that! I definitely enjoy the freedom of working remotely simply because it does not mean I am confined to my home office. All I need is my laptop and Wi-Fi and I can set up an office wherever I am in the world. The only inconvenience is attending meetings when I am out of the country due to time zone differences. And believe me the scenery is much more interesting working from a beach front cafe in Asia.

I am back mandatory 4 days a week. I commute from NJ to NYC and the buses and Path is at full capacity when i get on. Today was better but I suspect people taking vacation before schools starts at the end of August.

The one phenomenon that I have notice is the office is almost empty by 4 pm, what happened last to 9-5? And at 7:30 am when i get in it’s empty too, there’s a handful of first and second year analyst usually in so I hang and have coffee with them. There’s one girl that I think has kind of taken a liking to me, not the prettiest but awesome body, every time she stops by all I can think is don’t shit where you eat, this job affords me the wife, cars, house, vacations and enough for the hobby don’t f that up. I can see the Bill Clinton temptation with impressionable your girls.

From what i hear in our none hq offices, ie nj, li, ct … people are literally badging in for breakfast and leaving. I think this won’t last if a recession is coming. I’ve already seen the fall layoff list here. Good for you if you work in an industry that allows remote work, stick with it. I saw an article Amazon forcing ppl back.

The amp girls can’t work from home either

I am not confined to office. Much easier to walk out and get a lunch bang or afternoon bang if I am in office. No one is work so no one will tell on me if I am away from desk for hours. Lol

Most people I know who are back working in their office are immediately heading home right after quiting time. No more hanging around afterwards having drinks with friends. Sorry Mayor , it is not safe to hang around after work anymore.
I’m truly curious if you actually feel unsafe or if this is more political talking points. I’m in Midtown 3 days a week and the only differences I see is there are small groups of guys smoking weed on the street, and some sketchy areas with loitering around Port Authority and Hell’s Kitchen and some outer areas of Midtown (none of which was great before tbh). When I go to BK or other nightlife areas it feels very normal and lively with young people.

The crime stats spiked right after COVID almost everywhere but they’re back down in NYC. My conservative relatives done believe me but they’re all going off what they see on TV. Im an average build guy and personally I think you’d have to be a woman or a huge pussy to feel unsafe in most areas of the city right now.

That’s terrible. I def hear a lot about property crime , especially with car windows smashed, tires, catalytic converters stolen, etc…Not just in the city.

Just saying I don’t feel physically threatened walking around. It’s not like San Fran or Portland where crime is basically legal and homeless are super aggressive etc
