Just curious if the majority has return to office in some form or not. I am hybrid right now. Was curious if it will affect traffic?

Hybrid now. Took a remote job with an NYC based firm during COVID but now getting forced into the office for a hybrid schedule. Had to relocate but it's OK, other place was getting just as pricey as NYC anyway. I just had a little more space and different weather.

I'm also working a hybrid schedule, and most people I know in office jobs in the city are doing the same for now. Have heard ramblings of more and more companies going back to fully in-office, but I think that's probably not going to be the norm.

Did you mean traffic on the roads? or AMP traffic? lol

I’m back in-office 5 days a week since May 2022. 50% of my clients are back to 5-day in office without hybrid. So not sure how it affects traffic, but traffic in the Garment district Manhattan is horrendous all day. 8th Ave is now three lanes from 34th street to well past Port Authority (they made a pedestrian lane and bike lane).

Some of my clients that are hybrid are already saying they will be back in-office September.

FYI, I work in corporate architecture/interiors, construction is up nearly 150% from this time last year for new and renovated offices in the city. Can’t imagine hybrid will last much more than a year for most.

Office 6 days a week since Jan 2022. Subway is getting back to normal on Mondays to Thurs. Fridays are still light probably due to hybrid work still in place. Car/Traffic is about 80% back to normal on Mon to Wed.

It's interesting to hear about your hybrid work situation and the shift back to the office. With this kind of transition, traffic patterns could indeed be affected, especially as workplaces adapt to new routines.
Speaking of adapting, if you're ever interested in exploring ways to make the most of your time outside of the office, you might find the article on Side Hustles from Home intriguing. It offers insights into potential side hustles that can be pursued from the comfort of your home.
Here's to finding the right balance between office and home, and maybe even discovering new avenues for income and personal growth.

I am in the office 5 days a week unlike many pussies who wants to stay home. I can stay home but who the fuck wants to work from home... I could work in a mobile office / cafe if I wanted to but I just go into the office.

I am back mandatory 4 days a week. I commute from NJ to NYC and the buses and Path is at full capacity when i get on. Today was better but I suspect people taking vacation before schools starts at the end of August.

The one phenomenon that I have notice is the office is almost empty by 4 pm, what happened last to 9-5? And at 7:30 am when i get in it’s empty too, there’s a handful of first and second year analyst usually in so I hang and have coffee with them. There’s one girl that I think has kind of taken a liking to me, not the prettiest but awesome body, every time she stops by all I can think is don’t shit where you eat, this job affords me the wife, cars, house, vacations and enough for the hobby don’t f that up. I can see the Bill Clinton temptation with impressionable your girls.

From what i hear in our none hq offices, ie nj, li, ct … people are literally badging in for breakfast and leaving. I think this won’t last if a recession is coming. I’ve already seen the fall layoff list here. Good for you if you work in an industry that allows remote work, stick with it. I saw an article Amazon forcing ppl back.

The amp girls can’t work from home either

I don’t work in Manhattan but have noticed an uptick in traffic going back to the spring. If those scumbags in the MTA get congestion pricing approved it will be interesting to see how that affects traffic long term.

Most people I know who are back working in their office are immediately heading home right after quiting time. No more hanging around afterwards having drinks with friends. Sorry Mayor , it is not safe to hang around after work anymore.

It will not affect traffic at all and they all know it, it’s just a ploy to fill city cuffers with more money from hard working people in the name of “climate justice” but hell we keep voting in those bums so shame on us

Right now there is 180 million sq feet of unoccupied office space - another 120 million square feet have already informed landlords of their intent to move and not renew. . The biggest market in NYC commercial real estate is the down sizing market . That said - it’s hurt happy hour, the lunch crowd, the corner news stand . NYC is not the same may never be that bustling super city we see in old movies - the energy is sapped in a post apocalyptic Covid trance . I live here it’s not the same. All my fav restaurants and clubs, bars closed . Who even wants to sit down indoors with a new Covid quietly lurking - a new vaccine coming and hospitals now at 69 % capacity and rising . No I do not see things coming back. The next decade maybe , but I don’t see “ the office “ returning to even 65% capacity . Nada , no way
