Tell them this isn't 1865 and those people are long dead. This country needs to stop living in the past.
Said by a man who can trace his ancestory over centuries through his last name, and has a discoverable lineage and heritage, which someone who was enslaved and moved to this foreign land cannot do. In fact, these citizens of former slaves cannot inherit anything from his or her ancestors prior to their capture and indenturement.

This is 2019, why the fuck dwell on the past. What was done is over, let's just move on.

It reminds me of the recent idiocy that the Flyers are now banning Kate Smith and her "God Bless America " rendition from being played at the games. Covering her statue, and going to remove it because of some racial lyrics she sang almost 100 years ago in a different time.

The era of political correctness and evaluating the past based on our current societal standards has to stop. What was done, was done, punishing the past does not help us move into the future.

It's not racist or anything else that is going to ruin society, it is the misuse if social media that is going to destroy it. That includes the rediculousness spouted in threads like this.

Adding money to the system has a complete failure. Just look at the school system.

This is anecdotal, but as a Hispanic, I have seen the trend to have single mothers raising children because they can get more aid, and in groups that is what they proudly discuss sometimes on how to cheat the system. I found that is common among central american and Caribbean nations, at least in my area. That is not to say that other groups (such as White or Asians) also do not abuse the system, but you can't incentivize people through reparations (affirmative action, welfare, etc.) and not expect more people to get on it. In my university the affirmative action kids ( you knew who they were because they bragged freshman year) were dropping out of engineering, since they did not have the background for it.

I was raised in Peru, went to school here and didn't understand why it is such a problem here in the United States. My country was ravaged by socialist hyperinflation (where my parents and grandparents lost their life savings) and currently corruption, [also not white Peruvian btw.] People are more worried about the present (those that are poor) and the future (lower middle class and up.)

If you keep suggesting to people they are owed Reparations, you will open a new can of worms. Who determines who owes what? The only people that care about protesting for reparations have too much time in their hands.

Koon, you are so predictable and so utterly a RWW.

Let me translate your whole argument:

1. Nothing was legal until a White Redneck (preferably male) took it.
2. From that moment on, it is legally his no matter what happened before. "It's mine! I got it! Game over!"
3. Any theft, threats, violence or murder used by him to acquire it is absolved of any guilt--because those other guys he took it from didn't have proper legal documents written in a European language. Taking it from an Injin isn't theft. Germ warfare isn't wrong so long as your side uses it. A paper signed at gunpoint so that women an children will be allowed to have the food back that they grew is a proper negotiating tactic.

There is little sense in trying to discuss the topic with you because you truly don't see anything wrong with wiping out up to 95% of a population and kicking the remainder off their lands because you want it.

And anyone who disagrees with your world view is called a White liberal, whether they are or not.

Why should I be surprised by your positions?

PS: You still have not addressed why you think the US government has any moral right not to abide by treaties they signed without being coerced.
"There is little sense in trying to discuss the topic with you because you truly don't see anything wrong with wiping out up to 95% of a population"

The only thing that did that were diseases that native populations had no immunity against.

Why should I be surprised you'd spin that?

Reparations is not new, it has been taking place for a long time, and isn't only delivered in the form of money. Open your mind to creative forms of reparations that could improve situations the majority here have never encountered.

Koujiou, please give us examples of reparations? Would they be minority universities funded by rich people that benefit minorities? Scholarships for needy deserving minorities? housing, food stamps and welfare to support any needy person in this country? What about the sliding qualification levels universities and jobs? You are correct that reparations have been taking place a long time and that reparation are and will continue in the future. Can anyone of the candidates put together a history of the assistance society has been providing African american citizens and supply a plan for how much longer it has to go on before this country has fully paid for its past sins. Remembering the evil which occurred two hundred years ago and forgetting about all of the charity and benefits that have occurred and continue occurring in society is just a bit annoying to me personally.

What kind of Reparations would you suggest then? Perhaps money was the wrong way to say limited resources. In the end that is what is going to be fought for resources, not a sorry note (that's extra) from people who had nothing to do with previous injustices. And again, who would determine who is owed what (if any.) I agree there are many instances of brutality (such as the Indian Massacres/ Slavery) but we aren't helping the situation by telling people they are entitled to things, we just create more problems down the line.

People still talk about it because their race is still feeling the effects of slavery. It's easy to say get over it. When you haven't experienced it.

I get you being annoyed by it. We probably couldn't afford reparations money wise the way it would need to be done. However I'm not going to say "GET OVER IT" smh.
