No reason to travel to Flushing for an AMP. They are pretty much the same there as anywhere else. The benefit is that Flushing has a lot of them, but you'll probably pass a dozen or so on your way there anyway so no point in traveling that far.
If you want to see Flushing though, and go to an AMP as a bonus, that will be worth your trip. The most interesting places are on Main st and the adjoining side streets. Check out the supermarkets, *definitely* check out the food court in New World Mall and restaurant at top of New World Mall is a nice place to eat. Or you can look for restaurant reviews before you go. Dont eat in places that are empty, they are usually empty for a reason.
Remember you're a tourist there so expect to be treated like one. I live there and I'm still treated like a tourist. Know the prices of what you want to buy and dont be afraid to haggle. Always be polite. Have Google translate app on your phone.
Flushing has an insane amount of food but not so much alcohol. For dive bars go to Farrington street or the Korean area on Northern and 162nd street.
The chinese have a different concept of personal space and how to walk down the street than we do in America. It's a free for all. Don't let it stress you.
Don't even bother trying to pick up any asian girls, they won't talk to you. There are plenty of hottie to look at though.
Depending on how long you stay, you might want to take a 20 min ride on the 7 train to roosevelt Ave Jackson heights. Plenty of AMPs and spanish girls there too. Perfectly safe during the day, a little dangerous at night.
