I was thinking about taking a trip there soon. Any veterans of the area offering places to sightsee and grab a meal at?
... Not a good idea at the moment ... all the regular activity has been severely affected by the Virus impact.. It's not the cool place it was 6 months ago...but will no doubt return as soon as there is a Vaccine...
... I was spending 2-3 days a week up there pre-covid...now it's a ghost of it's former self... A lot of "Homeless' have descended on the corners and sidestreets off Main St. and it's funky in a bad way...my recommendation is avoid the trip...Also.,the US Open is scheduled to be played Labor Day until 9/14 with players and fans coming in from all over ... a perfect storm...
... NJ has better options if your going to monger...
Good Luck..

These people are exagerraring and if you go off peak hours it's $11.75 with the toll ezpass.

I would only go for hobbying though. I wouldn't go all the way there otherwise. You can still have a great meal in Manhattan, or Astoria.

No reason to travel to Flushing for an AMP. They are pretty much the same there as anywhere else. The benefit is that Flushing has a lot of them, but you'll probably pass a dozen or so on your way there anyway so no point in traveling that far.

If you want to see Flushing though, and go to an AMP as a bonus, that will be worth your trip. The most interesting places are on Main st and the adjoining side streets. Check out the supermarkets, *definitely* check out the food court in New World Mall and restaurant at top of New World Mall is a nice place to eat. Or you can look for restaurant reviews before you go. Dont eat in places that are empty, they are usually empty for a reason.

Remember you're a tourist there so expect to be treated like one. I live there and I'm still treated like a tourist. Know the prices of what you want to buy and dont be afraid to haggle. Always be polite. Have Google translate app on your phone.

Flushing has an insane amount of food but not so much alcohol. For dive bars go to Farrington street or the Korean area on Northern and 162nd street.

The chinese have a different concept of personal space and how to walk down the street than we do in America. It's a free for all. Don't let it stress you.

Don't even bother trying to pick up any asian girls, they won't talk to you. There are plenty of hottie to look at though.

Depending on how long you stay, you might want to take a 20 min ride on the 7 train to roosevelt Ave Jackson heights. Plenty of AMPs and spanish girls there too. Perfectly safe during the day, a little dangerous at night.

lot of helpful advice Jerry. Thx
I will say @Jerry1967 is inaccurate in saying no reason to go there for amps. The fact is Flushing is the hub. Flushing has young pros. 24 and even under do work there. Some of them are only for Asian clientele. Even some for only Chinese Clientele. However you can definitely find some 24-28 yr olds in an amp or a Flushingincall ad that accepts non Asians.

Also New World Mall you will any given day pre covid find a few Manhattan pros getting some lunch or dinner there.

Did all of you guys forget the lock down rules right now? Restaurants are dine out/take out. Bars are closed. People aren't outside like they were before. So you be just driving to see slight cheaper pros.

Thats why I recommended Manhattan or Astoria. Nicer sorroundings and dining outside with liquor served is fine.

You're absolutely right. I haven't been there since covid and I kinda forgot. I know there is outdoor dining and drinking in Bayside and Astoria though, I would imagine it's the same in Flushing. And you can still go to the shops with a mask on.

Flushing is insanely crowded most of the time. Driving there is also an adventure. I would think it's much easier to navigate now. Not entirely crazy to give it a shot now. For Chinese food it can't be beat. Just do take out and eat in your car. One of my favorite spots is C&L Imperial Taiwanese on Main Street near the LIE.

Sinful Hands—

Now is not the right time for your first visit to Flushing, but definitely put it on your bucket list.

When things get back to normal, find an area Chinese girl and ask her to be your tour guide for the day. Many Amp girls will do it for a little money and dinner on their day off.

Instead of driving, consider NJ Transit to Penn Station, then take the LIR right into downtown Flushing. Very easy.

Let your Amp girl/tour guide pick the restaurant. Way too many choices. Ridiculous amount of great Asian restaurants and walking around is a cultural education.

The tour guide might bring her friends, and the Flushing experience will be unforgettable. It will cost a little money for the day but I highly recommend it.

A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
