The travel ban is common sense. It is absolutely beneficial and saving American lives.
The Travel Ban came too late. Seattle confirmed the virus was active in their area for 6 weeks on Mar 1st. That means it was in country mid Jan. Before the world knew about this virus. Before China lock owned the country. Before the Travel Ban. We didn’t know that bit of info until it was revealed. But instead of acting on it, he did not escalate the response. No mass testing ordered for Seattle area. No exemption on the restriction to use only CDC test kits. The first indication the Administration took the virus seriously was on Mar 12 when the travel ban from Europe was issued. Knowing that what we know now, the travel ban wasn’t very effective in preventing the spread of this virus.

If the cdc had 500 times its budget we would have still got laid out because China destroyed samples, didn't tell the world fora month that this virus was around and hid the human transmission for 3 weeks after they found out about it. 6 to 7 weeks it grew unchecked and they is not anyones fault but China and the WHO.
It’s not the size of the budget. What is critical is finding out why the CDC insisted on using their own test kit when Seattle was confirmed to be a active zone. Why did they not use another working test kit? Why waste so many weeks repairing their test kit without doing any testing?

China owns Ethiopia and the WHO head is Etheopian.
The naming guidelines were in place in 2005. China didn’t need him to change the name from WuHan virus.

The WHO take their marching orders from China. I saw an interview yesterday of an asian woman asking a rep from WHO how he thought Taiwan was handling the crisis. He wouldn't even answer the question and pretended not to hear. They started the interview again and he wouldn't mention or acknowledge Taiwan, referencing only 'areas of China'.

Obviously under strict orders from you know who not to legitimize and recognize the independent sovereignty of Taiwan.

The WHO propagandize on behalf of China and their actions early on dutifully repeating China's lies to the world make them just as culpable as them for what we are currently dealing with.

It’s just so easy to point the finger, give an opinion. If your not part of the solution then your just part of the problem.
To address the original question again, getting back to normal.I feel that just being on this board the word normal doesn’t apply to me, that should be obvious.

Part of finding a solution is to figure out what went wrong. If it’s not something productive now, you come back to it later; when the time is better. These questions won’t be going away. In fact, they will be prime topics when the Presidential election gets into full swing.

Not technically a country and I didn't say that, but it's people and government view it as a self-independent and sovereign entity. And WE certainly treat it that way.

The US would not be defending and war-planning a defense of what is nothing more than 'a part of China".

They wouldn’t. But they not doing that to protect sovereign Chinese land. They’re doing it because they support the Gov’t in charge as an ally.

My Father was a ranking member of the KMT. I could debate Taiwan with you all day if you like.

Nothing to debate as far as I can see. We both know Taiwan asserts it's own autonomy and is recognized around the world as a sovereign entity.. .I knew a lady once---an elderly woman friend of the family from Taiwan. She became successful here as well as her sons.

She considered herself Taiwanese. If anyone dared to refer to her as "Chinese' they would get an earful and lucky if they didn't get the back of her hand. She viewed China as 'the bullies across the water" and had nothing but contempt for mainland China.

Probably not an atypical view I would venture to guess.

All of that having nothing to do with the corrupt WHO and it's bending over for the communist party of China.
Maybe, maybe not. But people can’t seem to let go of the politics. And yes, Taiwan did complain about the lack of response from the WHO in the beginning. But it turns out they were able to figure it out on their own. So bringing up the WHO aspect of it is just as moot.

Lots of heads are in much more nefarious places than sand I'm afraid

I think Trump is absolutely worthless as a president, but even more so as a person. He was obviously not prepared for this at all. You’re already starting to see the blame shift happen from the fringe right-wing blogs up through the Fox echo chamber, i.e. This is China’s fault (true to an extent but doesn’t excuse our failures to prepare) and the newest one floated by McConnell “He was distracted by the impeachment” which is just hilarious levels of avoiding accountability.
Granted he was way late on taking this seriously but I actually Trump has been doing “ok” since then as far as actual on the ground response. What’s discouraging as always is his inability to act like an adult - joking about senators he doesn’t like being in quarantine, telling states they should kiss his ass if they want help, having the My Pillow guy (WTF?) get up there to compare him to God, insisting everything he’s done has been been perfect 10/10 when that’s so obviously untrue.
A leader gives you the truth even when it’s not pleasant, and does what’s necessary for the greater good. This is a real crisis and we could and use a leader right now. Instead we have a child
