There is a fantastic interview of the doctor in Korea who is the head of the infection disease unit over there. His name is Kim Woo-Joo and it's on YouTube. Google "Kim Woo Joo interview". It starts with "You need to listen to...."

Korea has handled the coronavirus better than any country in the world. Listen to what he has to day about the virus. He also comments on the USA.

It is not sensational in any way. It is all fact driven. Frankly, it's an example of how I wish our news media was. Just straightforward information, without the political spin that all our channels use to maintain a demographic viewership (and keep that ad revenue coming). I tended toward the "this will be ok, everyone is freaking out way too much" perspective on covid, but the fact presented by the Korean head of infection disease have convinced me that we aren't doing enough here and we could be in big trouble.
Korea, population 51 million, cases 9661, or one out of every 5,327 people. NYC population 8.6 million, cases (currently) 32,000 one out of every 268 people. And when we are at 50,000 cases, one out of 172 people. Two points, one- What a stark contrast in handling the virus, and 2. Do you really want to take a one in 172 chance by seeing a provider?

This is insane.

There is no treatment for the virus. The only defense is your own immune system, which is why the elderly are dying at such a high rate. After 60, your immune system weakens considerably. People with underlying respiratory conditions and those with compromised immune systems (i.e. people on cancer treatment) are in huge trouble if they catch it. Their only hope is a respirator to help them survive long enough for their body to fight it. As we know, respirators are in short supply.

On top of that, your body does not become immune to it once you recover. There are cases of people getting it, recovering, and then catching it right back again. There is no purpose in letting the population catch the virus.

If the quoted advice were taken, we would be looking at hundreds of thousands dead, likely millions.

Shutdown for more than 2 months is a huge, colossal blunder. The virus will have a gigantic second wave in December if this is the case. We should let it spread quickly.
you cannot let it spread quickly, hospitals are not prepared for the influx of sick patients. if you read any news about the situation of the nyc hospitals you would know that slowing the spread would give hcw and hospitals time to catch up and have the supplies necessary to deal the infected

Just wanted to see what my fellow members think about how LONG it will take until we get back to “normal?”

For me, back to normal would include AMPs providing “GFE” services without hesitation, or fear, even more so including infamous rimming services, since recently distributed NYC health guidelines frowned upon both activities.

Figured this would be a good instance of “crowdsourcing,” since odds are many members on here are on the actual “frontlines,” as doctors/nurses/Uber drivers, so they may have a better finger on the pulse of what’s actually happening out there vs. those of us who are housebound for the obvious reasons.

Thanks for reading and participating, gents.
I'd guess June into July as the weather really heats up.

I'm sure if Sleepy Joe was in charge he would be doing a horrible job from the nursing home.
Trump has not only completely and utterly botched this. He has absolutely zero empathy for the typical everyday working family. The only thing he really cares about is the Dow and how he can spin whatever happens to aid in his re-election.

1. Just like 7 weeks ago (while the pandemic was racing through China), in its 2021 budget, the Trump administration announced proposed cuts that would reduce CDC funding by 16 percent and slash $3 billion for global health programs.
Source: https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/tru...s-global-health-amid-global/story?id=68911515

2. In 2018, the National Security Council’s global pandemic director left his post abruptly; then his entire team was disbanded by former national security adviser John Bolton. The Trump administration has yet to refill any of those positions, leaving huge vulnerabilities in our global pandemic preparedness.

3. In press conferences and tweets, Trump has been downplaying the severity of the coronavirus. On February 26, he claimed that the number of cases was declining in the United States; he claimed that the fatality rate for coronavirus was lower than the flu, and a vaccine was coming quickly.

4. As of March 3, approximately 3 months after knowing about the coronavirus, fewer than 500 people had been tested in the United States, compared with 13,911 in the UK and 1,126 in the Ontario province of Canada alone at the time. Judging by Trumps remarks about the Grand Princess, while refusing to let it dock — 'I don’t need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn’t our fault' — I wouldn't be surprised if his thinking was: less testing means lower numbers.

5. In 2018, the Trump Administration cut 80 percent of CDC funding used to fight global pandemics. The funding support, which went to training local health professionals and bolstering emergency response across 49 countries, was reduced to just 10 nations. China wasn’t included in the revised list.

6. Last October, the Trump Administration opted to discontinue a Bush-era program expanded under Obama—called “Predict”—that monitored the threat of animal-born diseases to humans, the possible origin point of the novel coronavirus. The program was behind the discovery of more than 1,000 viruses, including an Ebola strain.

7. As the crisis unfolded early in March, one-third of the coronavirus task force took time off to speak at the Conservative Political Action Convention. The list of CPAC attendees also on the task force included White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, Homeland Security Secretary Ken Cuccinelli, Larry Kudlow, director of the White House National Economic Council, HHS secretary Alex Azar, and national security adviser Robert O’Brien. Vice President Pence, who heads the task force, told CPAC attendees that the risk of infection “remains low.”

8. In early March Pence and his office took control of all public government statements on the coronavirus, which now go through his press secretary, Katie Miller. Because of this move, the CDC and the National Institutes of Health can no longer share their own research, and a Pence office stamp of approval is required to broadcast independent information

And there are several more blunders that have to do with the CDC and FEMA which I can't directly credit to the Trump admin, but it's reasonable to assume that had all those agencies not been gutted and budgets severely cut, many of those would have been avoided. The whole point of having a Global Pandemic Director was to coordinate these things seamlessly and have protocols in place.

Biden is in lala-land. The only reason he'll get the nomination is because he's been propped up by the DNC and the corporate media establishment to stop Bernie.

But Trump? He is a disaster. He is a con and a sociopath.

February 26: "So far, the results of all of this that everybody is reading about — and part of the thing is you want to keep it the way it is. You don’t want to see panic because there’s no reason to be panicked about it.... we’re ready for it. It is what it is. We’re ready for it. We’re really prepared. We have — as I said, we’ve had — we have the greatest people in the world. We’re very ready for it. We hope it doesn’t spread. There’s a chance that it won’t spread too, and there’s a chance that it will, and then it’s a question of at what level... So far, we’ve done a great job. When you have 15 people, with this whole world coming into the United States, and the 15 people are either better or close to being better, that’s pretty good.

March 30: “So if we can hold that down, as we’re saying, to 100,000, it’s a horrible number, maybe even less, but to 100,000, so we have between 100 [thousand] and 200,000, we altogether have done a very good job.”

He is a loser and a con artist and he's taking us all down with him.

Not a fan of trump, but when he cut off flights and travel from China he was called a racist and xenophobe by the very same people that are complaining about him not doing enough. There were huge mistakes made yes. This virus took out Italy's healthcare system with ease, the very same one socialists touted as one of the best in the world.

The real problem here is China and the WHO, they covered all of this up and refused western countries help. They then let 5 million people leave and infect the world. If I weren't a more sane person I would say that it was like they used it as a weapon.

Trump is a yahoo, but this is a planetary issue and overwhelmed almost every country with high tourism.

If the cdc had 500 times its budget we would have still got laid out because China destroyed samples, didn't tell the world fora month that this virus was around and hid the human transmission for 3 weeks after they found out about it. 6 to 7 weeks it grew unchecked and they is not anyones fault but China and the WHO.

China owns Ethiopia and the WHO head is Etheopian. Not a coincidence, who he isn't an actual medical doctor. He was also part of a tyrannical Dictators regime. This is the guy who deflected and covered up for those monsters in the CCP.

In these idiotic, politically correct times in which we live, words like "racist" and "xenophobe" (and "sexist"/"misogynist") mean absolutely nothing.
Just ways for certain people to try to shut down valid and often beneficial actions and ideas with which they disagree.
The travel ban is common sense. It is absolutely beneficial and saving American lives.
