My friend I had to weigh in- I am a very in shape young looking older guy. Take my word as a jaded NY’er it could be a setup , the other guy on the phone could be in on it , or she was just being nice .

You are married , so if you met her and was beaten and robbed you wouldn’t report it- they know that

If in fact it’s a hookup , count on her asking for compensation very quickly .

If you give her compensation then ask yourself why that is different than a young working girl or seeking arrangement

The fact is they mongers here are right . Believe me even though i look 45 - no 23 yr old would be seriously interested. The expression is “ there is no fool like an old fool”

As long as you understand that she isn’t there because she actually likes you , or is attracted to you , that is eventually will be about money whether you volunteer or she spells out the deal.

Most important make sure it’s not a robbery setup. If it’s a hotel check the closets and the bathroom first and chain the door .

It’s not love - not 66 and 23 sorry
Robbery set up ? Too funny .
If you with you good looks went up to a girl on the street and asked her out totally unsolicited and she said yes ..
would you start second guessing your self and think ' oh boy I am being set up to me mugged ' ?

Same think here. I initiated the thought of a date. Not her .

Were you dressed to impressed on the day in question? Were you signaling your status in any way?

It's certainly plausible for a Chinese gal to be attracted to older men. I have a few friends that have admitted to going for men in their 40's, and these gals are in their mid-20's.

Now you're a 60+ guy, so the story does sound a bit outlandish, but we've all been under quarantine for the last 6 months, so maybe she just craves a man's touch.

Is she Chinese-American or Chinese?
Hardly . I was wearing my Crocs , and a shirt with belly handing out .

She has strong accent and had been going to school in USA past 6 yrs

If her response to your overture was cool and calm, then you're not going BCD without showing tangible value.

If her response was coyness/ shy laughter, then she viewed you as an elder to be respected and she was being nice.

My man you got this. You are a sugar daddy. You know how this works. Play it cool like you are just a nice older guy treating her to dinner. After some interesting conversation, you will know. Don't embarrass yourself by acting like it is a real date from the start. Feel it out during the meal and drinks. Young scammers are obvious.

If she is interested in you, it will be for a sugar relationship. She could also just be polite and open to a free meal with the nice guy that helped her get her phone.

Yeah, he might wake up in a back alley behind 98 Mott with a scar where one of his kidneys used to be...

EDIT:

@rongetcha -- go for it anyway! We deserve young poon! All of us!
Haha....well my friend did wake up with a missing wallet and camera and a lot of intentionally obnoxiously obvious hickeys all over his body...which I suspect was meant to humiliate him and mean spirited.

I'm overly cautious but forget all the skeptics here, including me. I still say stay safe, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. Go for it, sounds like there could be something there! Might want to drop financial and a.i. math concepts like markov, etc so she knows you're legit and interesting. Please give us the update, I'm excited to hear about your impending success!

Funny you say that. In our short convo I brought up the concept of standard deviation which is a math tool used to measure risk of a portfolio which I use at work. She was impressed with my grasp of it .

She has a graduate degree in math and she was impressed by your knowledge of standard deviation?!

This story just became less believable.

This reminds me of my physics I lab I took freshman year.

Engineers are usually dumber than mathematicians. And I am pretty retarded.

Good luck dude but just be careful. If this was Lima Peru my homeboys would have made sure you were clean out before beating the shit out of you and leaving you on the road.

Well, and she wasn't a statistician, so maybe she would be impressed if anyone threw standard deviation out there, but that's quite basic and it's not a math tool.

I meant the concept of deviation is elementary... almost all STEM freshmen learn it from multiple sources.

But you are right!

I have an understanding of standard deviation lol and I repeated statistics as a required math course 3 times before failing out of college. Girls never seem impressed with my grasp of mathematics however...

My impression is that people deeply immersed in a subject don't have a good grasp of what the general population knows or doesn't know...how could they, when they're surrounded by people similarly immersed in the topic. So it's a welcome change to meet somebody outside of their bubble who they can connect or relate with.

If she is truly a pure math person, she may know about standard deviation, but not understand the behavioral economics of it, like the fact that the shape of the curve changes over time as markets participants react, much like Soros' reflexivity comcept or the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, and that tails are fatter than historic data would imply. The book Black Swan and behavioral economics like Kahneman might be interesting for her. Who knows, maybe meeting a hot asian 22 year old who connects and bangs with a 60s gentleman is the 3 standard deviation event that is really just a 2 standard deviation event!

Haha...this is an outlier, and/or at the very edge of a long-tail.

Ha.. maybe she was being nice but she seemed surprised I knew the formula . Well close anyway..
You definitely deserve credit for knowing the formula. I minored in stats at both the undergrad and grad level and can't remember the formula if my life depended on it.

Well...if my life depended on it, I'm sure I could magically pull it out of my ass.
