@topjimmy, maybe we can do a 'favorite forums' feature where users can favorite their favorite forums and as a result, these will be shown at the top? Unfortunately this sounds like a borderline bespoke solution that'll require an extensive buildout and persistence in the backend.

I suppose a Control-F is the next best thing.

For now, you can go to the forums you care about and set them to Watched. Then you can go to the hamburger and choose Watched Forums. Or at least that's what I'm gonna try to do until the dust settles

But then I'd imagine you'd get a notification for all activity, and not necessarily that which one is interested in?

Look, as I mentioned.....the new forums are gonna sit at the top for a short period of time. I think I originally said 90 days.....it's not gonna be that long. 1 week, 2 weeks max. Then you'll see New York back at the top.

I'd also say that there's a big site upgrade coming that has dozens of different improvements all packaged together. Some of which you will see, and some you won't but rest assured that the stuff you can't see is stuff that will make this site more stable and more secure. It's been long overdue. A vastly improved search feature is part of it. Another part is I'm sure everyone's heard that from time to time somebody edits their review after writing and accidentally deletes all of their private comments. Well there's a fix for that packaged in this. Also, there are gonna be some design changes that'll make it where you will probably be able to see and click on any of the geographic areas without scrolling down the page at all. At least if you're on a desktop. Another feature we are working on is for the user to be able to collapse any of the sections they aren't interested in seeing. They'll still be there, but they won't be taking up much space. We are also working on giving the user the ability to move the sections around, basically customize them to their own liking, and then save it the way you want it. So.....much to come. Be patient my mongers. I'm working hard on rewarding you for all the bullshit you put up with for so long by giving you a fresh new look on the site with some handy new tools to use to make the experience better. Hang in there

Feedback on one change: when I click on a region -- Northern California, in my case -- all the sub-regions used to be stacked vertically, with the sub-forum name on the left and the title and date if its latest post on the right. Just by looking at that, I could tell if there was anything new. Now, with the sub-regions shown horizontally and no other info given, there's no way to know if anything new has been posted. Clicking on each sub-region -- which is a hefty number in Northern California! -- is pretty cumbersome.
