Why are there so many South Korean women in the US commercial sex industry?

They often ask the usual questions like are you attached, or what do you do for a living. Sometimes it’s hard to reciprocate with the chit chat because it gets sad.
only one asked me if I worked with computers after she noticed I had softer hands than her haha. Yeah I feel like I have to chose my questions wisely don’t want to upset them or anything.
I see viola as a suggested friend guess cause I’ve been to VF

Had a hunch about Jeni @AEC. She played Jay Chou and other Mandarin songs the two appointments i visited. She said she attended college in Beijing but part of me believes shes from a northern region/border that separates china and NK.

Found this article and study that explains the who and the why are there so many kgirls here. While the reasons make sense... more $$ and pay off debt, there is a long history of this international Korean prostitution. Any thoughts?
Migrant Korean Women in the US Commercial Sex Industry
Just another generic article pandering to the mainstream narrative. From my experience, such narrative is total nonsense. However, my experiences is obviously limited.

The mainstream narrative is as follows
  • Must label the women as trafficked and forced against their will
  • Never never label the women as willing sex workers, that's a major major no-no. This, despite the fact that after a bust, the "rescued girls" would start looking for another org to work for the very next day
  • To pay off their debt. Perhaps some started with debt, but most girls are clearly in it just for the money. Most girls take time off and go shopping whenever they feel like it.
Let me make a rough calculation to demonstrate what numbers we're looking at. $260/hr and let's say 8 guys a day and work only 250 days out of the year, 260x8x250=520,000. Is it really hard to believe that these girls would willingly do this for half a million dollars of personal revenue? Sure she needs to pay her rent, expenses, and PO booking fees. But I really think their motivation is an easy multi-six figure income.

And some girls come here, work 3 months, and then go back to Korea never to be heard from again. Perhaps those are the ones just wanting to pay off their debt.

One of the myths that gets to me is the "contracts" girls are forced to sign. The thing is, no country in this world would honor such a contract. Once again no country in this world would honor such a contract. It needs to be repeated because clearly some of you guys can't seem to understand such a simple concept. Putting things in writing is pointless since (A) it's not a contract any government in this world would enforce, and (B) it serves as evidence against criminal organizations. All a girl needs to do is to bring one of these "contracts" to the police, and these gangs will go away for a long time. Basically no written contract means the ability to negotiate (maybe deniability and leniency) with the legal system, and having a written contract means maximum prison term.

And, by the way, if a girl brings such an evidence to law enforcement, they would thank her profusely, give her victim status and all the requisite benefits, and we'll never hear the end of it from the news outlets. People really don't seem to comprehend how valuable this "golden piece of evidence" would be to both LE and the news media. They've been dreaming of something like this so bad for so long. But, instead, what have we seen? Girls looking for another org immediately after their org gets busted. Why do you think that is?

ya squid games is about the debt lol
Ever heard of Ganam style? The entire song is about keeping up with the rich lifestyle of the Gangnam district, despite one's personal finances.

Yes, that means she could be Chinese-Korean and from the Yanbian region of China. I know some that grew up in that region but are Korean, just born and raised in China.

I've never seen any real data supporting that theory; in fact the only place I ever see/hear it is on forums like this one. I think it's VERY hard and VERY expensive to get out of NORK, so this idea just doesn't pass the logic test in my opinion.
You'd be surprised. Many of the North Koreans went to China first, got married, had kids, made their way to South Korea, and then went to the US for work. Only going by the "real data" and the forums, you won't be able to verify this. But from actually getting to know them beyond just in the work environment, you'll get all the stories that go beyond what you see.

You are making the same mistake most mongers make when estimating income.

1) You assume they are independent, which means they will pay for their own apartment, own supplies, and only have PO fees (i.e. $30 or so per booking). In reality, if they are under an org, the org takes much more than that.

2) 250 days a year? While most South Koreans will complain that the North Koreans never take breaks, there is still that time of the month, unless they are taking pills to prevent that as well, but usually, vacations are still present.

3) You are really only considering the popular ones to assume they can get 8 customers a day for those "250 days a year". Yes, many of the popular girls can get an average of 8 somewhat regularly, but there are always slow times out of the year, and that goes for just about everyone.

Still, yes, most make a decent amount of money. It's how they choose to spend it (most still have very little to show for it even after years of work).

Totally agree..
- the mainstream narrative is always BS :)
- Regarding contract, I don't think there's actual hard contract for girls going to US, but to other country for sure there's contract because the company needs to secure them legally according the actual law of the country.

However the Korg in US can always push soft contract or commitment, and if the pressure is too hard the girl may choose to leave. Ever see a girl that's suddenly running away ? Most of them are having trouble with the PO (if not the customer).

I remembered what I saw and what my korean friend told me in Seoul 2 years ago, i kind of feel the struggle and competition in the atmosphere. not like the US, Korea is small and homogeneous, where peopel are easy to follow the similar life style and value. there you can see the similar dressing, similar makeup, even similar “refit” on their bodys and faces. however not everyone can get the chance to earn enough for that. over 15% youths can't find a real job in korea. it's really not that surprised so many K girls take some easy money. spent for prostitution per capital in Korea is the highest in the whole world BTW.

actually from the girls i know, lots of them have bought propeties in the US or South Korea, i do see that's a poverty driving phenomenon.
This.

Lifestyle pressure and competition.

All of them wants Dior bag but to be able to buy Dior either they have to be successful in business or career woman. South Korea is very competitive (other Asian country too) but since there's not much alternative (like in US if you can no longer competitive in Silicon Valley you can always move to Idaho or Ohio) and culture is pretty much less taboo with sex work, they are going for escorting.

Some of the girls I noticed very good in managing money but some are really
They often ask the usual questions like are you attached, or what do you do for a living. Sometimes it’s hard to reciprocate with the chit chat because it gets sad. Like hearing about a memory of playing piano at church as a kid (and now she can camel slide with the best of ‘em); or going hiking with siblings (do they have any inkling of what she does); absentmindedly asking how her day went after seeing her again (I can guess that’s something she probably doesn’t care to recount); or hearing that she went to college (which makes you wonder how she ended up here).

I’d never ask someone’s name point blank, but there’re always the rare few who have no issue volunteering that info anyway. I always take note when they bother to ask my own name, or mention they heard it from the booker.

One even appeared as a suggested friend on a chat app, which means she even got my number from the booker but left it open for me to make the first move (I didn’t). That visit was also memorable because she accidentally played CCM on her phone, which gave us a chuckle.
The Kgirl is impressive. They're not just uniquely beautiful but also very friendly and talkative. There's something peculiar about them. They can just keep talking continuously and make the whole session feels less than business transaction. Most of the times they already know our name and nationality from PO. Sometimes I'm wondering why they're so good ? Are all k women are just like this ? the men in korea are very lucky then hahaha....

This how fake news beggins
One of my friends married a well known K-girl here in the Bay Area. This was her story and I have been told do many other stories that this is the path these women have had to take. As I posted before, this is the way. Nothing fake about it. Sad is what it is. They are true survivors, strong women.
