When I read between the lines in the quick takeaways section, what it really boils down to is - we locked everyone down and put the fear of God in everyone’s eyes, and left everyone with nothing else to do and the fear to go out and seek protection and/or take care of yourself. Just my opinion and I’m sure others disagree.

The author of the article is a PhD, not a medical doctor. His job is to write articles. The article was reviewed by the CEO of the company that published the online article. I don't have the time to look into the actual CDC dataset referred to in the article.

Is it wise to always be mindful of STD's and all other communicable diseases? Yes of course. If distribution of the article allows one person to make better choices then it's a good thing.

HIV is included in the overall aggregate numbers. No surprise this subset number would push the total cases even higher in a city where junkies crawling the streets of Philadelphia outnumber the cock roaches. Sharing needles, or picking them up from the gutter to reuse is a classic method to spread disease. Add the guys and girls having sex to support their effort and there's an exponential multiplier.

Philly is the poorest big city in America, social strata follows STD proliferation.

Is it? Not doubt it has it share of issues and bad areas.

But I’ve never seen anything like west Baltimore. That area makes a 3rd world country look rich. At least Philly has a good portion of center city that has some money. Baltimore has maybe one or two blocks and the rest is a basically a ghetto.

It's a googleable statistic based on a rubric using poverty level and population size. I'm not boasting, I think it's deplorable. The main reason is the Philly government hiring relatives, friends and hacks to run the city. The pay is astronomical, nothing is accomplished and the city is circling the drain.
