yes they all deserve a chance, so does 8.1 billion people on the planet right now, lets get all of them over here, so we all can beg from each other. 1.4 billion indian and 1.4 billion chinese = 2.8 billion will be more than happy to come here, lets get them all here or it is you only want south american comming here. when our country goes to shit, which is already on its way, lets see which country will takes us in, considering most of the world hates us.
Asylum, that's a joke. There is no war in central and south America going on requiring millions of people to flee north for their safety last time I checked. This is nothing more than millions of people realizing "I hear you can get a free ride from the US government once you enter the country, so why not take advantage of the saps up north and their idiot self-destructive domestic policies?"
Doesn’t actually have to be that way; Trump did get the number down to 17,000/month at one point, a unique low, through a combination of factors, including ‘remain in Mexico’ and the wall (which Biden is now quietly restarting).
But all that aside, most Americans are very pro-immigration for all the reasons the more progressive of you have stated.
The problem really is illegal immigration and the broken system which is resulting in almost 6 million people in the country currently waiting to see an asylum judge. By the time that happens they’ll have been in the country too long to be deported regardless of their asylum claim, meaning that as a country we are not in control of our border.
US historic immigration was never out of control like that, and of course we had jobs for everyone and no taxpayer-funded social services.
To me it makes sense to seal the border, and then have a generous immigration policy; but one that prioritizes workers for the jobs our economy needs.
But all that aside, most Americans are very pro-immigration for all the reasons the more progressive of you have stated.

Look at nyc now it’s discustjng to walk around, so dirty, it smells like weed everywhere and people are in edge. Yes, we had these problems in a smaller scale before but now we have an extra shit loads of people we literally don’t knew what to do with. So, yes I also have a problem with that. I don’t want to end up paying for them. We have veterans and good citizens in this country that live this county and don’t rip down the aMercian flag on 43rd/lex, we need to help them first!
