Secure Folder is the one feature from Samsung that I miss now that I moved to an iPhone. I have not found anything like it so far -- the only thing I've seen is a hack with the screen time limit to lock down apps after one minute of use.

Anyone have recommendations on how to really keep apps like TextNow and files secure on a iPhone?

best thing for anonymity is
Samsung Phone with 'SecureFolder' + VPN app inside SecureFolder + TextNow registered with ProtonEmail
Full military grade anonymity and intractability ... no 2 phones hassle

Hi... bumping this as I could use some help/info. I have been using Tracfone for several years. I added a 365 day service card last year, it is about to expire. I remember I had a lot of trouble getting it added, had to call customer service. I do not remember the details. I have been researching how to do it again, and its damned confusing. Why do they make it so hard?

First: Any concerns about buying a service time card from EBay? ... no way it can be tracked back to me, right? I mean, if the worst happens, they can see I purchased a Tracfone card, but they wont have any details and can't link that purchase to any particular card or the phone it was activated on. Please tell me if this is incorrect. I have not been able to find 365 day service extensions at Best Buy, drug stores, etc. Prices are also MUCH higher if you buy 30 days or even 90 days at a time.

Second: I have some time... is there an alternative to E-Bay? Where can I buy a 365 day card? I do not want to deal with 30/90 day reloads.

Finally: how do I figure out which service I am on? Been using phone for years, no idea if its on T-Mobile, Verizon or whatever else they are piggy backing on. When you buy service cards, it seems you have to pick which service you want?

Is there a better way? I've been reading that Tracfone used to be good, but now is a crappy service where the customer service pple dont care and customers are frequently screwed over...

Thanks!

1st question:

I personally won’t buy this kind of thing from eBay, due to the scammers .

2nd:

Try new Target stores. They are usually very big and have a large electronics dept. I visited one recently where I found cards for 30, 60, 90, 120 and 365 day plans, as well as for data and text.

Better yet, they have self checkout and you can still use cash.

3rd:

Yes Tracfone used to be an independent company without infrastructure, piggybacking on the wireless networks of ATT, T-Mobile and Verizon.

Now Tracfone is wholly owned by Verizon. So if you sign up today and buy a phone, I will be a CDMA phone on Verizon LTE network. People with older GSM phones on ATT and T mobile networks will eventually be encouraged to transit.

And when buying the airtime cards, you don’t have to know which carrier your phone is on.

@DudeX Stole my thunder. I bought a tracfone and card from target in cash. You can even do the self checkout using cash. With dark sunglasses, a hat and fake beard, NO ONE would be able to track you :p
...as long as you remembered to turn your WiFi & Bluetooth OFF... ;-)

4x 90-day cards @$20 = 360 days for $80.
365-day card $99.99
Maybe how many minutes/texts you get matters? -- not for me, with "tripled minutes for life".
Seems to me 90-day cards are the less expensive way, not "MUCH higher".
How does it work out for you?

I think there are different trac fone cards too. Like a bunch of texts and a few minutes. Data, text, minutes. Just minutes. The data ones probably not necessary if you have another phone. You can also do it online, with cc but you might not want to use a cc. Prepaid cards are also available. I've had a trac phone for a long while and it's been good, but I don't have to hide another phone from anyone. That can also be an issue. Dual sim card phones are good, pull the sim when you don;t need it.

No, if someone found your phone, which i don't use a passcode, and found the Wi-fi networks and bluetooth devices you've connected to, you can be tracked. I know it's paranoia, but on the other hand, why take chances?

A note for the tracfone cards, a year ago they rolled in a lot of the "less popular" features, so it can be a bit annoying to find now or just sold out. Just look for the one with multiple scratch off options on the back.
