Back in the 80s I had this close friend from high school. Good looking guy who got this job selling copy machines and printer supplies in New York City. Every day, he'd "cold call" on businesses. Told me he'd get thrown out of at least 10 offices a day. But, he'd also make some sales and did OK for himself in terms of earnings. I asked him how he could stand all of the rejection. He just laughed and said that I didn't understand. He couldn't care less about that. Said the more sales calls he made, the more sales he would ultimately get. Well, he did the same thing with women at bars. Didn't give a shit how many times he got shot down (by the way, he was a gentleman about it). Got laid more than the rest of us friends combined!
Well, I recently gave it a shot with a nice looking older asian woman at a Home Depot. Nicely dressed in a relatively short black skirt, wearing a very stylish and expensive backpack purse. She also was sporting a nice wedding ring. Well, we chit chatted for a bit about what she was looking for...blah blah. But, after a bit I think she saw where I was headed and she was having none of it. Oh well, the more sales calls you make. Now I'm thinking that I should have gone home with asian granny who I helped out at another store. Ha!
