This incident was reported on SH a while ago. There was one who seemed to know her well. Very sad when I first heard. Absolutely heart broken to read her backstory. Although I'm not sure why anyone would stay in Queens except to live. Most of the ones I've met out in the 'burbs "seem" much happier and have options compared to Flushing. I've been in the area many times but never that road. Now, I will actively avoid it.

I have been clamming up a situation for several months. I reread the article and felt the need to share this to the readers. The keyword is "felt" because that was how I felt at that time and am feeling now. I met a new provider at a new parlor I never went in the past. We hit off very good on the first visit. I made an appointment with her again in a week. She led me to a shower and we showered together. She wrote on a steamed shower stall saying Me need help you help me, please. Her reaction caught me off guard and I dropped everything and we went back to the tm room. We had an intense conversation and I determined that she needed some assistance to get out of her profession. She asked me to meet her at a specific location and exact time to pick her up and handle errands with her. While we were waiting for her papers to be processed, she had to disassociate herself from the society. When she was notified about the papers, we got her papers she needed and she departed USA the next day back to her home country. The loan sharks are screwing the loanees. The loanees in most cases are willing to take the risk on their own as long as the loan sharks get paid for their principal and high interest rates forcing the providers to earn more money. I can imagine Sisi doing this to stifle her loan shark because she was trying to get help and got no where to go except the 40th Road.
Disclaimer: There is just a summary and I do not need to explain in details. She is in her home country safe.

Thanks for the summary of your experience. I hope I would act the same way if the situation arose. On a number of occasions I have traveled with and facilitated travel to Asia (rides to airport mostly). It did not appear that they were under any sort of duress. In fact, they seemed to be totally in control (passport/green card notwithstanding). Not sure if they were the exceptions or the rule. I assumed they were the rule. Maybe they were the exception, or their facade was very practiced. Something to keep you up at night.

There are clear differences between the K-girls and Chinese girls. The K-girls that I have known almost always share a decent apartment in NY with their "sisters". Most escaped abusive relationships with their husbands. Regularly go on vacation back to NY for group dinner gatherings, sushi, drinks, spa days, and shopping sprees for Western material possessions. Limited only by the past months earnings. Then, they go back to work. I have personally witnessed this with invites to Flushing.

The Chinese girls seem to be more individual. Living alone or perhaps with a family member. Or perhaps in a group house run by their managers, who I suspect are also their monitors for those who smuggled them into the US. Most that I meet seem to have left China for better economic opportunity or some form of government oppression, or failed marriages. These girls want to assimilate into US society, but are limited largely by language. And they are much less material, and more into retirement planning or sending money back to support family members, It is only in recent years that there has been an explosion of Chinese spas. But the move into FS spas has been rapid. This, I think, will change the landscape for many of the Chinese girls.

I don't know that any of the girls are forced to come here. But they make a choice as to how to get here, and what price they may pay to stay here. I don't know any of the inner workings of how the girls get here or how the debts are repaid. But I am sure there is plenty of abuses that go on. While I have mongered for many, many years, I can honestly say that I have never experienced a situation where I felt the Chinese girl was abused or in urgent danger. The Chinese women are highly intelligent and have gentle demeanors, and I have thoroughly enjoyed learning much about their culture. I would hope that if I experienced such a situation that I would find a way to help. But if they are illegal in this country, there are limitations on what help might be available without getting them deported or putting their families in danger.

It is a sad story on many counts.
Exploitation of human beings is a fact of life.
The story should highlight the fact that there are no safety nets in other countries.
The story highlights the landlord/manager
The story highlights the corrupt policeman
The story highlights the one out of a 1000 abusive mongers.

If prostitution was legal, would these abuses occur?
Is prostitution a higher social risk than alcohol or marijuana.

We live in the greatest country in the world but we cannot solve the most basic problems of the world.

Scubatoo added some information, which is true. I would like to point out about the choice. The salesmen/saleswomen made pitches and the rest was up to them to take it or leave it. Once they took the bait and landed in Eagles country, they got stuck. Prearrangement was the loan. After arrival on Eagles country, loan plus interest plus this and that. Very few brave illegal women will report whereas most will not. As I said my comment was summary.
