Virginia has been mentioned and is very active on another board. If VA is on the list, it may be worth breaking it up from the start. The 3 big markets are:

NOVA/DC/southern MD
Fredericksburg
Richmond

then there is:
South west - Lynchburg, Roanoke
Everything else

For New York

How about

Manhattan
Brooklyn
Long Island
Queens (rename Flushing to Queens)
Staten Island
Hudson Valley

Does that cover it? Would you do anything different?
Only change I would make here, since Queens is so big is to keep Flushing and have a separate Queens section. Since Flushing is the nation’s capital of Asian sex work, and is so active, it deserves its own space.

I don’t know if it’s worth having an everywhere else section for NY for everywhere north and west of Hudson Valley. I’m not familiar enough.

Flushing can be in Queens. @topjimmy i think your breakdown of NY is fine . With the understanding everything north of the Bronx goes in Hudson valley all of Westchester and any upstate etc. Long island will be a welcomed addition for sure.

My personal preference (speaking strictly as a hobbyist) for the New York section would be:

Manhattan - With subsections as: Uptown (above 59th Street), Midtown (14th Street-59th Street), and Downtown (below 14th Street)
Queens - With subsections as: Astoria, Elmhurst/Woodside, Flushing, Bayside/Eastern Queens
Brooklyn
Staten Island
The Bronx
Long Island - With subsections as: Nassau and Suffolk
Westchester
Rockland
Upstate (anything that isn't the above listed sections or subsections)

I agree with @Wayne1250. Whether you’re here once a day, week , month it’s fairly easy to catch up. Too many subsections and it seems scattered. Although I’m not a New Yorker, I’m familiar. As an example… or course LI is large and populated enough for its own section. As far as SI, not as much going on there so simply make it Brooklyn/SI. Same with north of true NYC. One section for say the Hudson valley. Everyone will find what they’re looking far and presumably less for mods to deal with present and future.
I’m based in NJ and have no problem covering the whole state in 3 sections.

I think instead of restructuring forum breakdown to subsections within subsections, updating overall search or having prefilled/drop downs would make navigating much easier. But this probably a much bigger task than creating those subsections.

I'd say that at some point there could be too many sections and subsections.

My opinion is solely my own, and purely from a hobbyist point of view, and would be my own, personal wishlist. But I think it's great that we are discussing sections and it being implemented after all these years.

And I can certainly understand having just the 5 boroughs (Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, SI and the Bronx) and then LI and greater NY as just sections as a minimum.

But NY is a bit unique in that it's probably one of the largest communities for the hobby, and breaking NY into separate sections and subsections might be easier to navigate, especially since the site formatting doesn't allow less than 3 letter searches or filtering capabilities. Not saying that you're not familiar with NY, but the sheer volume of reviews coming from all various NY areas is quite large.

Also, from a mod point of view, it doesn't matter if there are subsections...when reviews come in for us to approve (or reject), it's section/subsection agnostic.

A Connecticut section would be great, it's been piggy backing on NYC for a long time. A little confusing sometimes because CT could be Connecticut or Chinatown. One section for the entire state is fine by me.
Thanks for organizing!
100% agree! Even a northern / southern ct split would be nice, but like EStans said we'll take just CT if that's possible. Thank you!

Yes, it's great that we can finally have open discussions. I realize the volume of reviews and posts for NYC. I remember when I first joined AMP there were no reviews or posts for NYC (of course there were none in Philly either). I contacted a few of my NYC and Philly friends from spa Hunters days. We had traded contact info before that site went down, because the writing was already on the wall.

The change in this site is monumental over the past two weeks. Members getting reinstated and new review sections getting established. Having Top Jimmy back in action was way overdue. I know he was predisposed and had no time to deal with it before. It's also good to have a mod like you that is also a serious hobbyist.

Based on the lack of leadership in the past, should there possibly be a TopJimmy2? We’re all glad he’s back of course, but maybe the leadership should transition to an oligarchy with shared powers and a shared vision.
