What do you tell your financial advisor?

I recently decided to hire a fee-based financial advisor as a sanity check or second set of eyes to help me manage my final decade or two. I am probably being overly concerned, but still think it would be unnecessarily open to tell him exactly what I do with all those cash withdrawals. What creative euphemisms, genteelisms, obfuscations, or downright lies have you creative, financially responsible mongers used?

get a different advisor and keep your mouth shut about where you spend your money.

I’ve worked with same guy for many years and this never comes up. He doesn’t manage the account my pay comes into, just everything else. He’s dimly aware of how much I make base, but not idea of my bonus, which frequently doubles or triples my salary. So he just sees it when I Xfer it into his care, which I do every quarter. If he started asking, I’d get another guy, even though he’s done great. It’s none of his business what I do with my money. And I’ve never taken money out of his accounts anyway.

Any withdrawal from my the account handled by my financial advisor goes into a bank account. My financial advisor never sees any amount of any purchase or withdrawal. I wouldn’t care of he did. And, seriously doubt he would be looking or notice if the withdrawals for AMP’s came from the account he manages. These guys got bigger things on their mind than weekly withdrawals of a few hundred dollars.

It's none of his business. He just needs to advise you on how to maintain that level of cash flow. Or suggest a reduction. From $xxxx to $xx. What's being bought with the money is your business .

I am an RR. If a client has a lot of cash withdrawals we are required Compliance wise to ask “ hey all ok?”. When the client answers yes. That is all we need to know.
