I am not sure about Rombulous' comment because I have more C and less K on my phone. Close to 500 (485 to be exact) with C and 38 with K. I m similar to Scubatoo, but I stay in contact with most of them. I communicate with 8 out of 485 at least twice daily. I prefer C over K and see more C than K even though most K speak Mandarin very well.
True story: I had a C lady with me for 2 days. She is a good cooker! I went to a Chinese food market to purchase some Chinese food before her arrival. I had everything I needed except the LoMein base. I asked a Chinese cashier where to find the LoMein base. She led me to a specific aisle and was looking for it. She said that they ran out of it and to call back few days later. Knowing her accent with limited English, I took out my phone and pointed WeChat. She was not hesitant and allowed me to QR Code her phone. We connected right then. She asked me to change the name from ...... to an American name. Thanks to WeChat! She texted me at 7:50 pm before closing saying the shipment will come in next day around 11 ish am. I stopped by 2:30 pm and got to see her again and she had the LoMein base in the cashier station ready.
One C lady booted me out of WeChat because she asked me to stop by for massage. I asked her if I could get some honey. She said no. I responded back saying "No Honey, No Money" and she deleted me right away.
Both WeChat and Kakao Talk are valuable contact/communicating tools because I understand them more through these apps.
