I'm going to be going to my first amp. I have done research the best I can, and I have been helped by some upstanding guys sharing information and passing on knowledge. I have been able to weed out the bullshit from the reality as best as I can. This board seems to be a fresh start and it seems like there are more guys willing to share info as opposed to eccie. When I do a review...
where should I post it? Here? eccie? or OH2? or does it even matter? does each site offer anything different in terms of upgraded access? Any big bells and whistles that one site has over the other? I know some have memberships on all the sites I named and I was just curious if one has something more over the other. It seems like more people review on the eccie amp than here but that might be due to this site being new and I never even heard of OH2 until I came here, but it doesn't seem like that one gets used as much as this one.

Good luck on your first AMP dive!

Where to post? Pick your poison. Depends why and to whom you are posting your writing. If guys on this board helped you, it probably makes sense to post here.

Here is my take:

1 Eccie, is the most populated. your review does not count much, they churn pretty fast in the Dallas Amp section, but you get credit PA. They got ads. Best organized. Well moderated. With some experience you can find good info. Good place to find hobby buddies through PM. You can find your niche, even without PA.

2 Rubmaps, a lot of fake news and idiotic comments and discussions. Nice maps. Without paid membership is worthless. Feels old. Still quite popular and best coverage of subAMPs. Good location filters.

3 Ourhome2.net -feels like a closed knit group and newcomers feel like outsiders. Based on read counts for a fresh post, it is not that popular for lurkers. No ads, free, but you need to give up some privacy to get verified by a provider or two other verified members. Well organized. Feels stale though. Same key players as Eccie and therefore same style of posts. Reviews will get you PA after getting verified. Not much acrimony. I Did not spend much time on it.

4. AR, This site, is way too new, feels in startup mode. A review will get you PA . Less organized. No private posts, or I did not find it. The few reviews I read did seem to sound more real and less over the top. Maybe there are, but I did not read nasty posts yet, I am not holding my breath though it will last long.
The mobile version, looks great, has all features, not crammed at all, and is the best of all. Unfortunately the boards are flooded by non amp provider posts, trying to get their contact info out there, as a free ad, that is forced on you with no way to filter it out at this time. After a while it gets too much. I wish I could filter that out with a smart switch. Still there is a room to fine tune AR , get better structure, add fancier custom filters, etc. since TJ is open to suggestions.

5. I am sure there are more sites to compare, maybe somebody else with more experience could add a line or two.

I would be interested in comparing privacy aspects, cookies, trackers, logging, if anyone has the geek knowledge to comment.

That pretty well sums it up. For a first time visit I'd recommend Jessica, Kara, Bunny, Susan, or Pepsi for a first visit. It will be hard to better after that.

Ronin, my friend, I believe our thread starter has picked his choices already! but you know I'm right with you on those choices!

Ashi, very good summary. my interpretation of OH2 differs. the way I was told, a Provider must verify you, other Hobbiests can not. that is why I did not get approved! and my understanding is reviews never help with PA. each Member must be reverified every 90 days, by a Provider, not a review! you are on that site Ronin, am I correct?

ECCIE is the most natural site to review an AMP. I will contribute here, but very little in comparison to ECCIE. my contacts are all over there.

I was lucky. CK and I had corresponded on ECCIE a few times pre break. I PM'd him for access. I guess he felt comfortable giving me access without a provider reference since I'm primarily a Jessica lover lol. I rarely see Indies, who comprise the vast majority of providers that offer approval. HDS is the agency I use and they weren't an acceptable option for reference

I tried to PM for access, and got denied. he said he wanted to run a clean website, without tainted reviews. it doesn't matter, ECCIE takes up so much of my time anyway.

Excellent summary Ashi. The current choices of where to devote your time for dialogue and intel nowadays can be confusing. DFW has good coverage on all sites, but it’s hit or miss in other areas, especially the AMP scene out west.
