Visible enforcement on 88th and Roosie is being vigorously stepped up

I had some business in the area late and I drove by the usual meat market on Roosevelt up through 88th and I saw quite a sight. Uniformed LE standing post outside where the girls usually stand by the Chinese restaurant. Not moving or looking to do anything else other than break up the usual commerce. The one blonde cop was actually kinda cute and she was laughing. I drive up further by Dunkin' Donuts where one of them usually stands and there were FIVE of them huddled wondering what the hell to do.

Are there elections coming up soon or something? Looks like some local politician is interested in making things appear nice and clean on the street.

Keep a little extra awareness if Roosie is your usual haunt, friends.

It seems to be back to normal. Was there earlier and saw 5-6 in the usual locations on that stretch.
I saw the same yesterday. I guess unless they post a full time van right out in front with the lights on, things will get back to business as usual. I'm the paranoid type. Of course we know that LE has known where the action is but the fact that they seem motivated to make a show of force (and new city laws exclusively target the customer) give me a little pause.

Not trying to be on anyone's candid camera. We know how much local news loves pulling this 'exposé' story out every couple of years.

New mayor is targeting all sorts of small crimes as part of his new image. I mentioned on another post that I saw a group of 10 cops writing traffic tickets to BIKES a few weeks ago.

I'm sure they have something brewing for all the AMPs with DOB complaints hanging out there...

It will all blow over in a few weeks.

Because he can’t take care of the real problems like guns, Asian hate, homelessness and subway crime, he’s focused on the small stuff to make home look busy. Jeez last night he was on fox 5 saying “we are alone, the police officers are alone”
Now, if that’s not a white flag I don’t know what is.

Broken windows redux is on the way.
Meanwhile, the elite mongers on Park Avenue, Wall Street and Central Park East continue getting zero enforcement.

Not to get off topic but if you drive the streets of Queens and the Bronx, there are speed cameras everywhere now. I counted exactly ONE the entire length of Central Park East (110th to 60th and 5th Avenue). Funny how that works, huh?

Northern has one every other block it seems… fn bs and the crooked DOT commish wants to add more and take full control of the speed cams

Another sign of the optics here - saw 5 cops writing tickets in smoke shops in my hood. In 20+ years in NYC have never seen this. Not sure what the violations could be. Jaywalking is next, I guess.

I'm thinking he'll keep this up for the first year then dial it back until the next election cycle so he can repeat this shit and have it fresh in people's minds that he's "doing something". Just the usual from our politicians

Going after this type of 'crime' is the favorite low-hanging fruit of politicians, police captains and news outlets who want to appear like they're actually solving something. Meanwhile, the subways are full of unfortunate homeless folks dumping on the floor, kids are getting shot in their strollers by teenage gang members and Asian grandmas don't feel safe going to the supermarket in their own neighborhood.

But hey...we nabbed 8 guys look for HE. Crime is solved.

Today at around 2 to 3:30, I walked from 72 street to 86 street and about and passed by a number of spas and the providers were out there and some very aggressive coming right up to men trying to drag them in.

I was in Jackson Heights last night for dinner. Food was delicious at the restaurant, but out on the streets it was like an open buffet. No one was discrete what they were doing
I was out there the other night as well and you're right. The 88th street girls are wearing COSTUMES now. One was dressed like a character from Harry Potter or some shit. Had the schoolgirl outfit with the stockings and her hair in pigtails. Not exaggerating at all.
