I submit that the STD risk discussion is related to the pic risk ID issue.
When asked by an org for pic. ID even with most info blacked out, there is an immediate strong fear response because we don't do it all the time, but we give out credit card and DL at hotels, without second think.
Fear driven decisions (not giving pic ID) tend to be irrational for low probability events (chance that ID is leaked) are usually wrong or worse yet blind to more likely risk (of getting outed by getting an STD).
Isn't giving an STD to a significant other, a more likely (especially PSE) way to get outed than having your pic ID disclosed?
I know recently of a monger who got an STD from PSE. So, it happens. It would be informative to do a survey of mongers who get STDs and those who got into trouble with significant others because. There also was a recent topic and poll about whether to report an STD to the PO or not.
Yes, old rules were don't talk about PSE and STDs. The best I could infer, but probably wrong (Top Jimmy or other mods might be able to explain), the no STD, no PSE rule came from another fear decision of the discussion being lifted to justify anti-prostition legislation, just like stopping trafficking is used to justify anti-prostition legislation.
However, making prostitution legal is the best way to reduce trafficking and STDs, just like sex education in school reduces unwanted pregnancies and STDs, which is more important than the fear that it encourages sex.
My point is accurately identifying hobbying outing risks is the best way to figure out how to guard against them and for monger informed choice about the relative risks, rather than fear driven decisions.
This suggests that if you do PSE, the best way to reduce your risk of getting outed to your significant other is to use a condom, rather than not ponying up your pic ID.
