I know I am getting old when I start a thread like this. First let me say "Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone". This holiday means more to me every year, how about you? We should all be extremely grateful for everything.

I am so blessed to have my family to lean on at times like these after the passing of my second wife 20 months ago my and my family relationships have become more valuable than ever. I have renewed my bond with my sisters, where we get together again every holiday. I have reconnected with my cousin in Florida after 20 years and we now talk on the phone everyday. I am about to head to my one of my sister's tomorrow for a several day celebration of Thanksgiving where my second sister will meet us. It is so important to celebrate our thanks for family because without it we would be lost.

I have a lot to be thankful for. I hope this Thanksgiving gives you all a chance to get together with your love ones and rejoice. Your response to to the title of this thread will give us all insight to the importance of this holiday.

I'll be getting up early to work the parade. Then off to a noon appointment with one of my 'therapists', to help take the edge off dealing with family later in the day. I'm thankful things are starting to return to normal, and every day that I wake up on the top side of dirt.

Thanksgiving to me means a relaxing day with family, followed by several days in the woods with my Dad. I am more thankful each year for these times alone with him, as I don't know how many more he's got left. We'll be in the mountains where my grandparents were born & raised, and all his relatives have passed on. Each year he shares more details of the family history after a few beers, and it's like my own version of Henry Louis Gates' show without the giant binder. He doesn't know how much I'll miss him once he's gone.
