I was in Thailand for 3 weeks between thanksgiving and Xmas. I did my typical trip. Hang out in Bangkok a couple days auditioning girls, then picked 2 I liked best, and rented them for 3 weeks. Then off for 2 weeks down south and one up north.
There weren’t huge numbers of guys. But there were plenty of girls. I think they went back to old rules for COVID after I left.

I used to work with a booker. I told him what i was looking for ahead of time- he'd send me photos, i might do a facetime with a girl beforehand. the results weren't really that great. Bait and switch, personality issues, etc. Plus extra fees.
the last few times I have went - I make all my hotel reservations and travel plans first. I book a couple days in Bangkok at the start of the trip and then hit the bars once there. Let them know the basics of my travel plan and see who is interested in coming along. I might audition a girl i liked. Then negotiate a rate. Norm is that the guy pays all incidentals - travel, lodging, food (not insignificant), beverage, buys a couple outfits for them (something decent you can take them to dinner in, not expensive), and pays somewhere between the short stay rate and the long stay rate for each day. Lots of girls are usually interested provided you are going somewhere interesting, and you aren't creepy. If you have no plan, or you are staying at cheap hotels, you don't get attention.
In the past I've had girls do it for very cheap (free) basically because they are bored and want a break. that wasn't the case this time, but it wasn't expensive. Less than $100 a day. The other thing i do is to take 2 girls who are already friends, and make it clear that if either side can cancel the deal anytime they want. That's never happened to me, although i sometimes see another girl i like and add her for a day or two (I did that this time, when I ran into a girl from a couple years ago).
It's not cheaper than just getting a girl at short stay rates each night. Like I said, feeding them and buying their booze can get expensive, as these girls are usually starving. I do this because I don't drink very much at all, i don't like the process of chasing and finding a new girl every night, and lots of the places I go to down south have little to no girls to choose from.
I've bumped into other guys that do this as a group - 3-4 guys grab a bunch of girls and head out touring. This is a solitary hobby for me though, although i get the appeal of having a moving party.

I've been checking out stuff on Youtube, yes, Singapore looks dead like everywhere else. Orchard towers are mostly closed and boarded up venues for the most part. Geylang Road looks quiet as well. If I'm going to sit in a plane for 17 hours I want it to be worth it.
Thailand, who knows. As an older white male, shaved head, I have monger written all over me. Some people go to Mecca, others to Rome or Jerusalem. We go to Pattaya's Walking Street.
I might hold out until Japan reopens. Tokyo looks wild and even has venues for gaijin like me. Any and all reports, including totally biased ones, are welcome.
Yes, I had a girl switched out on me. I gather she had a regular customer come in and the mms figured as a gringo I wouldn’t be able to tell. But in any case my results have worked out great just going on site, and working my own deals. Not sure if you’re serious about Pattaya or that’s just an expression, but I don’t recommend going there, but don’t want to get into the same argument I did over this a couple years ago. I think as a native Korean, you might even get treated worse in Japan than me, as a white guy. It’s not that the Japanese girls we get offered are bad, it’s just frustrating to me to see the best ones get held back. So I feel, why deal with it? Still though for certain fetishes, like cosplay, or light bdsm, Japan is best. I’m glad I’ve been there, but not planning a 2-3 week stay like I just did in Thailand.
It depends on where you are leaving from and going to. I pretty much lived in the air for a while which is why I prefer long flights. The hassel to board a 1 hour flight is the same as a long flight. If I go through all that I prefer to go somewhere far away!
If I was headed to Malysia, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore from US, the get on and off fits into my "maybe do that 2 times". Except going to Mumbai, you can fly direct, around 16 -17 hours, and US to China always direct 14hrs roughly. Layovers in either england, germany, netherlands or france.
When I lived in China, it was a direct flight, ~5 hours to singapore, malysia, indonesia, Thai etc., maybe 9 hours to India.
