STR is about a 1 square mile town with 3600 people and they have about 15 officers. The area where the spa is located is one of two “commercial” areas in town. There isn’t much going on there but there are some shitty neighborhoods. I do know that before this spa came along, I’d often see an officer sitting in the gas station next to the spa at all times of the day. They also used to hang out at the 7-11 at night when it was in business. STR is notorious for stopping you for going barely over the speed limit or other BS reasons, especially at night. They go heavy on traffic enforcement. And I am sure they know what this place is all about.
As far as the sheriffs department, like I said above the ocean county sheriffs department doesn’t get involved in these types of investigations. Not saying there isn’t an investigation going on but the police may just be milling around the area to cause exactly the result that is going on here. Scare away paranoid/overly cautious mongers or run plates to pull warrant arrests, suspended drivers, etc, since people from all over the state seem to be making the treck here now. There is also an awesome deli near by, so maybe the sheriffs guy just likes his Luigi’s deli lunch.
The only relevant evidence I could see them gathering from outside the place is counting the amount of guys coming and going, most of which probably leaving around a half hour since this place is notorious for shorting on time during the busy parts of the day. High volume, high turnover, fast appointments, all male clientele…I am sure are facts they would attempt to use as background in any search warrant application, combined with any inside/undercover intel they gathered.
That said, I am cautious when I go here but I am into my 3rd frequent flyer card so it hasn’t stopped me from enjoying the unprecedented talent for this area. Last time I was there about a week and a half ago in the AM I saw no law enforcement activity at all.
