Article in the WSJ today about major federal justice agencies investigating Rubmaps, EroticMonkey, and Eros site as trafficking sites. Apparently these sites are controlled by some Swiss businessmen. Moving in after Backpages got shut down.

Also be aware that Federal agents in North Carolina moved against the EROS Call Center there. This was either fall of 2017 or fall of 2018. They seized everything in that place except the coffeemaker.

It's been thought that the US Attorney in North Carolina would bring indictments, but it's been quiet since they seized all of that information.

What does this mean for users of those sites?
I honestly don't think anyone knows for sure. SESTA made a lot of changes.

I have seen reports of several AMPs in Ohio where women may have been trafficked, and the police there are trying to track down writers of reviews of these women on several sites. Apparently, under SESTA, if someone posts information such as a review of a woman found to be trafficked, she has the legal right to sue that person, under SESTA, for civil liability and damages.

Makes a man think. This is all uncharted territory. However this ends in Ohio may be the indicator of what happens in other states.

Not sure about those sites but this should be a wake up call for some members on here. I do believe we can do without the Penthouse Letters reviews and the discussion of service and cost on an open forum. If not only a matter of time before we lose another good one.
The way things are today, too much information is not only a problem for the specific AMP, but also brings about potential problems for wherever it gets posted.

Unfortunately when we make any open forum comments and review the woman that works at massage parlor we open a can of worms. About these working women it’s time that we stop and let these poor women doing this terrible terrible job . It breaks my heart to listen to this women that they have choice . Doing this line of work. It’s time that we stop before they eventually close. This site and go after the massage parlor that we just reviewed,

Here's a blurb from the article:

U.S. authorities, including the Department of Homeland Security and the Justice Department, are investigating whether the sites have engaged in or knowingly enabled human trafficking, prostitution and money-laundering.

The websites in the years-long U.S. investigation all make their money from escort advertisements or posting user-generated reviews of sex-related services.

They include Rubmaps.ch, a massage-parlor review site that recently replaced Rubmaps.com. Florida authorities cited Rubmaps.com when seeking a warrant to search a spa allegedly selling sexual services in a case that entangled New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who in February pleaded not guilty to soliciting prostitution.

The others are EroticMonkey.ch, which offers escort reviews contributed by customers, and Eros.com, an escort-advertising site.

Among websites in the underground commercial sex economy in the U.S., Eros.com was the most visited ad platform in July, according to an analysis of visitor data compiled by Alexa Internet Inc.

Rubmaps and EroticMonkey were the two most visited review sites that month, according to ChildSafe.ai, which performed the analysis and provides data and other tools to help law enforcement combat sex trafficking.

“All three of those websites benefited substantially from the seizure of Backpage,” said Rob Spectre, ChildSafe.ai’s founder and chief executive.

Damn shame in this country because the demise and harassment of sites affected the safety of providers and pushed more women into unsafe street work and made them more beholden to pimps.

I thought I read that NJ may try to make prostitution legal in the next few years. If the Feds try to prosecute people that write reviews, the evidence would need to be pretty overwhelming. I never realized these sites documented real activities. I always thought these review sites merely documented fantasies.
These sites as all know contain no documentation. Just a lot of wishful thinking. In a way, these sites serve as a form of therapy by offering a site to post wishful thinking.
