What are the similarities and differences between Rio and São Paulo? I am thinking about going to Brazil in a few months and want to know which city is better. I have heard that Rio is more of a beach town, but that São Paulo has more to do. Is that true? What are the best spots for mongering?

I was there with an ex, and Rio was just crawling with streetwalkers. We had a hotel by the beach, and they were literally hanging around right by the door, and all the way down the street. This was back when I was young and naive, so at first I thought Brazilian girls were just all super sexy. It got sad pretty quick when I realized they dress like that because of their profession. Nobody living in a favela (basically a ghetto, and at a level of poverty that you would have ever encountered unless you go to another country) is going to spend money on clothes and makeup like that just because they want to look pretty, and they don't - they're trying to make money to feed their families.

The biggest problem you'll have in Rio (aside from STIs that you'll catch there) is that it's one of the violent crime capitals of the world. We literally had to dodge a group of guys intent on mugging us by ducking into a restaurant. My ex (a local) wouldn't even stand outside on the sidewalk by the bank, but would stand inside the door and jump out and rush to the cab. She's had people reach into her car window and hold glass to her throat. Shit like that is commonplace. Lots of people probably go there and are fine, but I don't know if I'd feel safe wandering around at night looking for hookers. If you go, find some buddies to come with you and go in a group.

Sao Paulo not as cool, and honestly felt pretty sketchy to me too, although there's a lot more going on.

São Paulo is better for mongering. It’s literally the paradise for this activity in Brazil, best providers of the country try to make the live there. The same quality of Brazilians you pay $360/h in DDY you find for $40/h in the São Paulo AMPs. Same quality of service and looks. I born in São Paulo, the capital of the State have a lot of stuff to do but you have to avoid some areas, especially if you’re a tourist. Better stay in more “fancy” places (not that expensive if you earn in dollar), since location it’s a big deal there. If you like beaches you can have this in São Paulo as well, but not in the capital tho, probably a couple hours of driving, that’s the only point Rio wins but for me it’s a overrated place

Damn I just read the title. I basically answer the same things he already knows lmao.
Best cost vs benefits in São Paulo IMO you gonna find in Moema district. I don’t know if I can put the link here but there’s a website like Ampreviews called “GPGuia” with all the info you gonna need for every amp or provider of the city. In Portuguese of course, but you can translate automatically using google chrome. My favorite “clinic” was Moema Prime, google it. If you already in the city you just walk in in the address. If you’re curious and wanna know how the girls looks before went there you gonna need talk with them via WhatsApp (this app is the big form of communication in brazil).

I have only been to Rio once, and that was a long time ago (2009 I think) so I can't speak to what it is like today. Back then it was good, but it wasn't cheap compared to Sao Paulo standards. But there was a lot to see and do with the beaches, cable car, statue of Christ, etc. I have been to Sao Paulo probably a dozen times in the last 10 years, most recently this past April. Sao Paulo is one of the best big cities for mongering the world. The women are beautiful and plentiful. As someone else mentioned, what would cost $350 in a major US city would cost $50-$75 in Sao Paulo. It is still good today, but it was even better back in the 2012-2017 period, I think more of the really top girls can make good money doing OnlyFans and online stuff so the quality has dropped off a bit. But it is still good. The other thing to keep in mind is that Sao Paulo is a really big city, a concrete jungle, so other than mongering and the food scene, there isn't a lot of stuff to do. There is no beach, there is no golf, there isn't much else interesting to do. Also, 95% of stuff is in Portuguese so if you don't speak the language that is another consideration. At 4/5 start hotels there are only 2/3 English TV channels.

Yes. Nice hotel right on the beach in Copacabana. Saw famous people at the restaurants at night. At the same time, saw tourists holding down pickpockets to get their stuff back outside other restaurants. It’s an interesting mix.

Keep in mind that this was over a decade ago, and things may be different now. It’s a very exotic place, and worth a trip. Just be aware of what you’re getting into. The reason there are so many hot girls willing to sleep with anyone who offers has nothing to do with the culture, and everything to do with their economic realities, which also explains the crime, pollution, etc.

How bad is the pickpocketing down there?

In Sao Paulo, I have heard from locals you really need to watch your phone. People will steal phones down there like it is nothing and then you are in a foreign county with no phone. Other than that, I think just being careful and watching your surroundings, sticking to "safer areas" and especially being careful walking around at night.
