Rubmaps & Mongering before GPS

I used to think Rubmaps was the Bible of MPs. But they have been slipping of late.

They still show all of Passaic as open.

They randomly have legit places on there too.

Comfort spa in Westwood is completely legit.

They have a Hand&stone location which is laughable.

They have massage element in Totowa and claim they have latinas but this is also a legit multimillion dollar franchise.

They have the wrong healthy way. Healthy way fairlawn is legit, but healthy way Paramus is self service/HE.

Not sure who manages run maps but quality control is a big deal.

I have no idea how people found these places before rubmaps/google maps. Maybe the yellow pages?

But even then how do you figure out who to make it there, and back? Directions wise?

I was born in 1993 so I do have some experience of life without a gps, but can’t imagine how people mongered.

I hadn't started banging prostitutes until 7 years ago but before that I imagine I would have employed the good ole spiral bound Hagstrom.

we had maps in our car glove compartments. And we would also call and ask for the address and cross street. The maps would get us close. It was really not that hard, and nobody got lost and you knew where to go, as opposed to now people don't know WHERE they are as they just follow what the GPS says to do.
This ☝️the first amp I went to was Tokyo garden on race st. In center city Philadelphia. It was like 20 some years ago. They are still open but under a different name and owner. I found out about that in a newspaper called pa sex guide that a guy at my work had. He brought it into work one day and was showing everyone and was telling us about it. This was back in the early 90s I was like 21 or 22. Way before cell phones. It was the days of beeper or pagers. Lmao omg I feel old as shit now

In the back pages of the newspaper between the want ads and the personals. And that’s where you would find a ad for a spa and if it had table shower in the ad you could at least get a hj. But the was 20+ years ago. Back then I had someone for quite some time, I would get gifts from the spa owner for either Christmas or Chinese newyears. It had progressed from just HJ, to BJ, to DATY to eventually FS. Oh 2 pops toward the closing of the spas. Originally it had real wooden doors but was later changed to curtains, probably because my girl was doing what she was doing to me. Oh well.

Star Ledger advertising section had the local parlor ads. I'd sift through those, write down the phone #s and just call them to get the addresses. I then would use the ancient MapQuest website and print out directions for each parlor. Was more work back then but it added to the "unknown" and made it more fun.

I could find a shack on a dirt road in the hillbilly sticks of West Virginia with a map and Gazetteer. Look at the map the night before and write down the turns and roads.
Hell these days I see young kids driving down the wrong way on a one way street because Siri told them to turn there. They can't find there way out of a wet paper bag let alone make change for a dollar without their phone telling them.

The kids now have no clue how easy they have it

In addition to the Classified section of the newspapers, Steppin Out Magazine dedicated a page or 2 to spas and other provider ads in the back of their magazines.

I think it is wild though before I even discovered Rubmaps. Using craiglist was the wild west. You had to learn how to avoid stings LOL being younger and dumber I think I almost fell for a sting once and a guy actually came out downstairs at the apartment and told me to go home. That was actually a good life lesson for me.

Then rubmaps came around and it was sorta better but also was pretty bad even back then. Lots of fake reviews which at least on here we sus out .

I'm glad at least nowadays you can just text and not deal with talking to anyone lol

massage parlors have filled in the void for many seedy strip clubs, 15 years ago you could get anything for 60 dollars at many places in paterson and most strip clubs had VIPs where anything goes. After COVID many guys learned of parlors and while they do exist most strip clubs are a bit more reserved. And we arent even talking about the girls who walked the streets near truck stops 20 years ago. Now they all use the net to secure business

Village Voice was the source. Then there was Craigslist and then Utopia Guide for me. Was searching/researching happy ending and massage and stumbled upon UG and had my AMP virginity taken at Gold's in the city. I forgot her name but she was infamous for her "neck job" blowjob simulation using her neck.

After that, Spa Hunter. My journey started just like everyone else, just curious to where I am now, looking for my next high like a junkie but my fucking dick is failing me. Damn you low testosterone.

SOS Day spa, Spellbound, the Hungarian crew in Belle Rose Queens, and everything else in between. I miss those days living in Queens and just a subway ride into the city or hop on the car and I can roam Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island.

Yeah I do remember maps being a thing. But I still can’t imagine navigating with them. I went out to a new spot last week and returned in pitch darkness because of no street lights, and pouring rain. Not sure a map would helped me.

Props to you senior monger for your willpower.
