Thank you ,when you say respecting the culture.
Japanese culture and language is separate of the rest of the world.
No origin of language .
We have Heikegani crabs that look like Samurai masks.
We are very hospitable to foreign visitors.
Warm Sake and Karaoke.
You were blessed to have been able to go to a Volcanic Spa the water is healing .
https://www.kashiwaya.org/e/magazine/onsen/tattoos.html
Because of the belief that tattoos and criminal activity go hand in hand.
When you go again use at least 6 tokens or tags for hotter temp. You will come out a younger man.
Of course eat the Natto with several shots of Sake.
You should make sure you understand what you read before reacting...
Origin of language.
Means that before the 5th century already language spoken and written were established.
That’s why my point was proven when link commented on Kaji which you must realize that it was given a name (Kaji) to differentiate between Kaji and Japanese.
Since I am Japanese born and raised, I think I should know my heritage and country history.
Not from visiting but from living all my 50 years.
I don’t know American history I visit here often (business trips) make a ton of money thanks to your many wonderful companies here.
I would never say that I know American culture and history. I only know what I see /what is shown to me.
But I know your culture is not homogeneous like Japanese culture is, our culture is taught to use at home and in school everyday.

The only Chinese or Japanese I know is BBBJ, CIM, 69, Greek, BBBJCIM, DFK, LFK….that’s the extent of those languages

I know what kanji is. However it is not the Japanese form of writing.
Japanese writing is unique to only Japan.
If it’s a form of writing in Chinese then it’s Chinese used during Japan’s occupation of China.
lol, learn your own history. many japanese went to china throughout ancient history, most notably during the tang dynasty and adopted many of china's culture (architecture, art, food, language, etc). the chinese characters and words used in modern japanese are all loan words from china. it was not because of japanese occupation of china.

Agreed, China was influential to Asia , culture/literature/math/engineering WAY back then
But the commy revolution put China 50-100 year behind until now. Language and culture are fluid , lots of borrowing as China was viewed as pinnacle of civilization, basically other emperors want to emulate how to control the masses. Funny and pathetic how chinese went from traditional writing characters to simplified characters while the JP and Korean kept the traditional chinese writing. Even Taiwan kept traditional characters. Whatever. China is epitome of social issues.

While china had missteps in the 1800-1900s, and the revolution was devastating, it wasn't the sole reason for china's fall from the top.
There was constant infighting in the nation, and the Qing dynasty was ruled by the incompetent Manchus who basically ran the country to the ground. they were weak and therefore susceptible to foreign invasion, hence the british invasion and China's humiliating defeat during the opium wars. they were subsequently carved up and ruled for 100 years by european powers.
after gaining independence, mao wanted to rid the country of all western influence and even traditional chinese culture. it did not help that Mao's policies made an existing famine even worse by trying to "leap forward". Additionally, the US sanctioned China by punishing foreign counties from sending food aid in an attempt to break the communist rule.
so I would say foreign invasions and rule, Mao's bad policies, and the US attempt to stop the rise of communist countries were the main contributing factors. China is once again rising and the US is doing everything they can to stop it.

You guys don’t seem to grasp or comprehend the word ORIGIN!
Wikipedia scholars quoting crap uploaded by ? Don’t know.
Or several thousand year old scrolls and manuscripts with Japanese writing.
You seem to not understand Origin of and adaptation of.
Every language has adapted but most have an origin of influence such as Latin offspring Spanish, Italian, French and others.
However origin of Japanese language is independent .
Is it difficult to understand a simple word such as ORIGIN?
Don’t rely on Wikipedia when you don’t understand the original statement made.

@Pandaman no body speak old language, language evolve. We are not saying JP language not unique/ original. We are saying it has evolved. Read my post. ‘Influenced’. The fact is there are Chinese characters in Japan road signs , city names, literatures etc. That is a fact.

Thx for the better summary. I am just too old and tired of properly communicating the issues in china. Global greed fuel china’s recent growth. So I am doing my part, minimizing my Chinese purchase. Commy gvt killed more Chinese than any foreign nation, state control propaganda, current concentration camp, etc. so ponder about that next time you have a choice of USA made shoes vs china

Guys, don't bother responding to Pandaman anymore. You're wasting your breath. That's why I just laughed it off and stopped. It's funny when you think about it. Ask him how to write the word "Japan" in Japanese.

@Pandaman is kanji still used in Japan literature?
Is Kanji’s origin from china?

In your history class in Japan , what was taught about Nanjing massacre and Gando massacre?
I am just wondering if your education and gvt is redirecting nationalism. Similarly Chinese students don’t know about Tiananmen sq massacre and Tankman

@blahblah22 perhaps the only way to rule 1.4 billion with limited resources is with Confucius servitude, propaganda and iron fist.
I love the people but not its government.
Is it the only way? no of course not, look at india. is it more effective and more prosperous as a whole? again, look at india.
I would not be so quick to judge the chinese govt. they get a bad wrap because our nation has been brainwashing the nation to hate communism since the end of WW2. after the missteps in the 60s-70s china has lifted a billion people out of poverty and their cities are more modern than ours. I've been there to witness it myself and it is nothing like how our politicians and corporate media tells it.

I will cut china some slack and ‘capitalized’ the c when they stop the Uyghur re-education camp, free the internet so students can learn about Tankman, stop stealing internanal water territory and supporting Putin. They are the bully while preaching peace.

You truly are confused with the word origin.
Reading comprehension is the fundamental foundation of understanding.
Origin where it began. Not what influences it has.
So please drink coffee and wake up.
Posting pictures is not conducive to anything said here .
I know the signs in the cities
They’re also in English
After all we thrived on tourism.
Nothing will change the facts.
