Okay.. One more positive comment because Tony was a great guy that I still miss

The schools in Bayside work very hard to build a sense of community. In the high school, it places a strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion with the various groups in the student body. It is well run and encourages the uplifting of students at all levels, including the IEP community.

For comparison, Francis Lewis is massively overcrowded with a staggered 10 or 11 period day for students. Cardozo is focused on test taking and fell behind. Forest Hills High school focuses more on the sciences in recent years but it has some great teachers. Bayside used to be fourth among those schools and worked hard to be number 1 in Queens.
It may come as a surprise but do you know what High School In Queens used to be #1 20 years ago? Hold on to your hat...Martin Van Buren High School! The last 15 years had been rough as the DOE and their Principal's left this school in shambles...lately I heard is coming back led by newer Principals.

Speaking of Martin Van Buren I tried to go to summer school there 23yrs ago or so. It was too far and too hot no A.C. So I went to an A.C. school in Flushing. Anyway I remember them having some pretty Filipinas there in Martin Van Buren. I wanted to go but them 2 buses were ridiculous.

When I was looking for a coop in Bayside and Flushing and I told the Re agent well Flushing is $70k less she said. That's Flushing you cannot compare Flushing to Bayside. Lol

You probably lived in Bay terrace!!
School zoning is different than postal codes. USPS even calls fresh meadow's, Kew gardens, and Forest hills "flushing" but those areas (like Bayside) have different school zones and dramatically different housing costs--housing costs are impacted a tremendous amount by school districts.

When someone says flushing it generally means downtown flushing. A person familiar with queens would qualify "Murray Hill" or "Auburndale" etc. That said, for this forum, the flushing section is used for all of Queens and even Nassau such as Great Neck.

For mongers, seems like the hotspots where providers are in queens are Flushing, Astoria, Elmhurst/Corona.
