A mediocre provider will take less for sure if she's been slow that day or week.

I agree. Its all supply and demand. Sometimes they let you walk if they know the next guy can easily pay the amount.
The other issue is the lack of information. A lot of places don't advertise, so its basically just this site and a few others to find AMPs. Only a small fraction of the AMPs will get exposure so everyone is going to the same places.
