It’s actually amazing. In broad daylight on 88th looks like an Asian go stroll with these girls wearing thigh high boots and booty shorts and that’s fine but if the boys in blue get wind that a Latina salon is offering any services discreetly in the back, here comes the goddamn SWAT team. I wonder why that is.
Actually, in the 80s, the cops stand on spots and are highly visible to discourage customers.
When I used move product on the corner with the crew cops would pass by... they knew what we were doing .... sometimes we got a pass and theyd tell us " when I come back you better be gone" other times like at the end of the month or on a thursday"warrent day" we'd take the arrest. Cops got jobs to do as well and we couldn't be mad because they gave us a pass more times than arresting us. Usually a guy got banged on parole violations. Cops had to make a certain amount of arrest to keep their car and prove that they were effective. When they " raid" amps and patrols thrust me it's not because they like to or want to .....it come down from a higher order and usually it's because of community complaints.
