After watching a steady increase in my PSA numbers for several years, had the biopsy and diagnosed with very early prostate cancer. Decided on the radioisotope seed implant procedure, rather than external radiation therapy, due to not wanting to commit to four or five weeks, five days a week, of traveling and waiting, and exposing more of my body to the radiation. Procedure was fast, almost totally painless, and effective. Due to my age I use 100 to 140 mg of V for L1 or 2, Trimix injections when planning L3. Still works even though not as much volume as it used to be, but still feels good!
At my most recent Urologist follow-up session I found out that the Cialis 5mg daily pills are now available as generic and can be prescribed for BPH. Using GoodRX and a local pharmacy a 90 day supply cost less than $20; can't beat that! So far they work just fine for L1 or 2, and don't have the occasional side effects I had with V, which sometimes caused a stuffed up nose about the time I was face down on the table, though a preventative couple of shots of nasal decongestant prevented that.
Yes, she explained all my options, but I decided that since I had the actual cancer, not just the rapidly changing PSA numbers, that I needed to do something proactive, not just to wait to "die from something else". I actually had more (temporary) side effects from the needle biopsy than the actual procedure. I'm now two years post, and although my orgasms are of lesser volume and shorter duration, everything still works and is very worthwhile. Thanks for your thoughtful question.
My Uro doc I think is secretly convinced that I have PC but 2 biopsies proved him wrong. My PSA are, and have always been, high. The BPH is a bit of an annoyance but I don't want any plumbing procedures done on my equipment like TURP, or laser etc. I do have difficult keeping it hard even with the "pills" but what I have found is that when I'm with a provider I have a mental problem more than physical with keeping it up. Having performance anxiety about performance anxiety is my main problem. Supposedly, there are studies that show that frequent ejaculations are effective in preventing PC. So I go to erotic spas to maintain my prostrate health. Maybe my insurance will pay for these "treatment" ! Getting old sucks!
Was diagnosed with prostate cancer at 56 after my PSA #s started heading northward. Was given the option of surveillance i.e. watchful waiting. Thought about that for a few months and decided I didn't need the stress of always thinking about having prostate cancer. If I were diagnosed in my late 60s might have been a different story.
Had robotic surgery to remove the prostate. Have follow-ups every year since and all is good on the health front. I'm now 64. I can get hard without viagra about 25% of the time but most of the time I need the blue pill. After I take the pill everything works it's just that the orgasms are less intense and shorter lasting. Considering all of the potential alternative outcomes, I can live with that. One thing I've read and heard is that if u had any kind of ED issues prior to surgery then u will most certainly have problems after surgery. Of course the skill of the surgeon is very important, too.
Obviously whether to have surgery is a tough call. I enjoy sex as much as the next monger but making sure I maximize my time on this earth is kinda critical too. Good luck to all those who face this issue. And btw get a PSA test done every year or two. I'm glad I did or else I might not be mongering today.

Found prostrate was enlarged a little and bladder was only half empty

Or the surgery to clean out prostrate. Just wondering if anyone else has been in this position. O btw gave me other pills to try silodosin side effects don’t sound good.
