If you want someone to send you a PM, then initiate the conversation with a PM directly to them. Requesting a PM in a public thread highlights the thread as having new posts, we hope that there is new data related to the OP. It becomes a waste of time to follow a thread and click on it only to find that it is a request for a PM.
