There are usually dozens of police in and around Roosevelt Ave and they are often standing on the same street. They allow it to happen. Unless there is pressure for the NYPD to do something about it, there will not be a crackdown because the police allow it to happen.

Just discovered this article on another site, cuz I DON'T read the Post, and this is why.

Sensationalistic, biased, EXAGGERATED reporting that will have you believe there's a plethora of children and "trafficked" women involved (NOT!).

Even the "exploitive" video they link to is mostly a G rated affair, more of a travelogue of the area, including local eats, than the X rated porn it's portrayed to be.

Still, it makes good business sense if these establishments would practice a bit more DISCRETION.

It's only a matter of time when enough "squares" and jealous housewives complain to force the hand of "LE" and shut down all the "good times."

I pass by the area sometimes to get food, cops are not even 50 ft from where some of these women are working. Only times I see cops do anything is when a drunk is acting crazy. I doubt that there will be any real pressure for a crackdown, its not some suburban nosy housewife area.

Yeah, I was walking by 90st one day and the cops were literally at the corner and the women IDGAF and was waving in guys right in front of the police since they knew they were not going to do anything. The guys obviously did not take the bait due to risk involved but that kind of give you the state this is in.

I wouldn't place TOO much value on the fact that the cops haven't done/don't do anything, as of yet.

Like I said, if ENOUGH of these "John Q. Citizen" types band together and demand action from either their local rep or LE, "action" WILL be taken. :(

I just hope these spots WISE up and act accordingly before then.

Then again, what's the old trope - "criminals" are not exactly the SMARTEST people in the world?:rolleyes:

Gents, if you really know the area, you know that sw are part of the community. the ladies live in the neighborhood. there is no sex trafficking. the ladies live and work in that neighborhood. having said that, in the last year and a half, with the influx of illegal immigrants, rosie has the vibe of a third world country street. young folks on electric scooters all over the place, young women and men selling stuff on the street, smell of weed and public drinking on every corner, general disorder on rosie and northern, and this is on the day time. at night, the dollar dance bars are full of latina ladies willing to do almost anything for a few jacksons. again, these ladies live in the community. sw and ladies with a cock walk the avenues getting picked up by johns. all in the open. have to add that the chinese ladies are also part of the neighborhood, many live in flushing, corona, area. If this type of ladies are your thing, then this area is ground zero. many many ladies to pick up.
prices. you'll be surprise how cheap you can get this ladies to go. car dates? no problem, 24/7. is it safe? that depends on you. use common sense.

enforcement by the nypd? they are going to try to do some type of "nuisance abatement" on some of the locations. but real enforcement with arrests and prosecution will not happen. not under this political climate. nuisance abatement was used with great results under Giuliani and Bloomberg administrations. it basically held the landlords accountable for the types of businesses they were renting their store fronts. it is a civil lawsuit and not a criminal complaint.
the city of ny basically eliminated nuisance in the last 8 years. very few lawsuits, compared to prior administrations, are file on each borough. you can look it up, it is public court filings. ymmv, stay safe.

I agree with this. Like I say, for every 5 shops that close, 5 new shops will open up. The only way to prevent it is by holding landlords accountable for allowing these shops to open up. Given that this is Corona which is not a wealthy neighborhood, I simply do not see that happening.

Right..., but this ain't OKLAHOMA.

"Real estate" is a FINITE resource in these parts.

If someone decides to mount a "CRUSADE" against these places, they could change the "landscape" in no time.

What other type of business is willing to setup shop in this area that isn't already there?

Dunkin Donuts, Walgreens etc...

Already have 15 Abogados and Contadores on every block. Not to mention immigration attorneys and money transfer businesses to Honduras and Guatemala etc.

Who else is going to rent there??? :ROFLMAO:

I lived in Queens for years and in Flushing too. These idiots on Junction Boulevard are not like the AMPS. it's clear they are amateurs and fools.
