Sitting in a park for a few minutes, before going to visit one of my favorite indies,
I started having nostalgia brought on by an old movie from 70s
The nostalgia is for the days of streetwalkers.
Younger mongers will never appreciate the "window shopping" aspect of it,whether on foot or in car.
Is it safer now?
In most cases,yes,but there was never a bait and switch.
You knew who you were seeing.
Of course, with my arthritis, I could not do the on foot that i used to.
But i did love the era

As an older guy who did most in 70s and 80s
I loved in some areas to actually get out,walj in the areas in some places.
But not on 11th avenue
That was stay in car area

But yeah,in retrospect,i was an idiot at times

My 1st street walker experience was in the summer of 1970. I picked up a lady named Sugar. I think that was her name? After that, I spent many weekend nights roaming around the city sometimes in my car but on foot too, mostly in the 8th & 9th avenue areas. Sometimes picking up street walkers & other times hitting the many massage parlors in the area.

1970, Broadway and 50th, for me, I was 18.

If i thought for a few minutes i could think of all the areas i went to between 1968 and early 90s,although the bulk was in 70s and 80s

Was the cross streets around 45 and 46

Anywhere from 42nd street up to about 45th or so from what I recall, usually along 9th Ave. The 1st lady I picked up was very close to Port Authority as near as I recall.
The massage parlors I went to were mostly along 8th Ave.

I was 20,,also near port authority, and in retrospect, not very good.

Soon after ,i found a great group on 45th between 6th and 7th,using hotels on that block.off and on,but not only,i frequented that area for about
20 years.other areas,I knew back then were 45th and 46th between 9th and 10th,
8th Avenue from 44th to 48th,
Lexington and park Avenue in 20s and 30s,and 11th and 12th and 10th st between 2nd andc3rd avenues.
There were others as well..
Most of these you could find girls both day and night
There were some area,you could only find day or night not both.

Nothing beats a night at Goldfingers (if you know you know) getting all ramped up with the untouchables then grabbing a tunnel rat for $10 or $20 back on the way to the tunnel.

No bait and switch. You took a ride around & picked who was looking fine. After hitting the go-go bar for a few pops, I used to visit the SW's all around EIizabeth. The ones I trusted I saw numerous times over the years. Some listed on CL. Then the internet came along and amps.
