It's funny with composers like Lalo Schifrin, Jerry Goldsmith, Fred Steiner--guys who took jobs just write music. Their names and work lives on well after they've passed on. They may not have started composing with the intent of being "immortal", but in a lot of ways, that's exactly how they've ended up.
