You have to be the right age from the right time to really be into the Misfits, the Danzig Misfits anyway. Anyone who enjoys Nikki Sixx is that correct age
Misfits is like any other late 70s slash early 80s punk rock outfit, but they REALLY love horror movies. Really. Love. Horror movies.
Listening to them now, their music hasn't aged well, most of it was recorded in shitty studios or on tape decks. If a modern band plays a Misfits song with modern equipment, they're good songs. But again, most of it is based on the horror movie genre. When I learned to play drums, this older guy who taught me made me learn the drum parts in Misfits songs. He said they were uncomplicated and no different from what I'd get if I took a class from a professional teacher. Today I'd agree.
Danzig was like a drunk version of Elvis. All the time. With a backing band of say the Ramones. Singing about decapitated babies and Jackie O in the role of a provider.
