Bond portion. 60/40 usual means 40% in bonds. With yields haven't risen from record lows the AGG ( bond index ) has performed poorly .

If I were you, I would attend and network at all of the NYC building events. I would focus solely on NYC. Many buildings need engineers to help them with maintenance and upgrades and the money is quite good.

Same here Petroleum Engineer SME, I travel often for work and usually make out well on per diem. A majority of my consulting is overseas. I definitely appreciate the per diem while on the road, keeps me from having to use salary for extracurricular activities.

Let see my approach to this would be calculate the cost first and then worry about covering it, since mongering should come from disposable income and we can always adjust our disposable income if we reduce savings and other investment opportunities.
