I'm shocked to find myself so strongly disagreeing with the Chairman here. This is almost akin to saying it's easy for us to learn Latin because we have the same alphabet. OK, maybe it's more like, it's easy for French people to learn English because so many English words derive from French - or French as it existed in the Year 1066. Which now that I think about it, isn't a bad parallel, because kanji are also derived from written Chinese as it existed 1,000 years ago (I could be off on the dates. Probably more than 1,000 years). Meanings have diverged. Korean and Japanese are related linguistically, so maybe that's an easier transition. But for those of you Yellow Fever types that don't know, Chinese is completely different linguistically. Japanese is closer to Finnish than to Chinese. So a Chinese reader can look at Japanese text and get a sense of the general topic. But speaking? Completely different. Japanese is closer to Finnish than to Chinese.

Kandi is one example.
Kandi is yanbian as fuck lol
Oh. My apologies, I thought we were thinking of another Yanbian girl. Kandi is not in my recent sample size of two and is therefore not part of my previous overzealous sweeping generalization.

It’s all good. We can respectfully agree to disagree. (y)

In Korea we begin to learn English from third grade and many people still struggle.

But for a Korean to learn to speak Chinese and Japanese, generally speaking, we are able to have an intermediate-level conversation within six months. And when these so-called Japanese providers speak Japanese worse than me, then they’re not Japanese. lol.
