not really much different than american porn industry. there's a documentary called "after porn ends" and a sequel "after porn ends 2" that interview former actresses. they either get really religious, real estate brokers, or become nurses (usually elderly care), but will get fired once their employers find out they're former porn stars due to potential sexual harassment fears.

i highly suggest listen to "the butterfly effect" (audible exclusive https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Butterfly-Effect-Podcast/B08DDD6299). covered the effect of the internet on the american porn industry, including where it's ending up (basically onlyfans and custom videos). it includes an interview with alot of people involved in the industry, including the creator of pornhub.

I'm a bit obsessed with what happens to old porn stars and the ones I've tracked have been all over the place. There's an upscale mormon girl from a well to do family from Utah who had a few scenes and she went back to join her dad's insurance company but had to leave that, moved states, got another job, had to leave that one, etc...she's still in insurance but for a while she was getting stalked and harrassed.

Another one works as a real estate broker affiliated with a friend's office and everybody knows her porn background but doesn't seem to be an issue for her. Maybe it's bc she's in LA.

Another asian girl was doing porn for a short while when she was at UCLA and she went on to have a good career in corporate real estate finance, working in high end firms that are almost Wall Street level firms, but she's had to leave her job, move to a more rural town and trying to rebuild her career there. Pretty catastrophic life mistake. Her younger sister who looks just like her and has a similar college and background works at one of the huge tech firms and is thriving, which makes the porn girl's situation even sadder.

Or Alina Li, the most famous one I've heard of, she's got a Reddit page where she's apparently gone completely off the wall, suffering from schizophrenia, staying in mental hospitals for months, having to take meds and making crazy posts on twitter and instagram. She's quite bitter about her porn experience now and I can't help but think she could be very wealthy and popular if she just had the savvy or mental wherewithal to maximize her fame and following instead of going on crazy rants.

that can pretty much be applied to any porn star. there's a big issue with porn stars even being able to open bank accounts (also covered in either docs i mentioned), let alone being able to invest their money. banks refuse basically on moral grounds. add to that these girls are usually at the prime of their lives, seeing more money than they know what to do it, most end up having nothing in the end.

in the butterfly effect, they interviewed a male star. he got out of the business, put him through nursing school, and working at a hospital and had no issues, until someone recognized him and reported it to HR. he was fired and couldn't find another job.

here's a blog post of yhivi about why she quit the industry from a while back:

@gallyy, thanks for the yvhivy piece.
Much of what she says could be echoed by most of the providers this forum is about. It’s the side of the sex worker world we don’t want to acknowledge so we compartmentalize and deny just as they do to participate. No doubt the whole enterprise is dysfunctional. Good to keep a realistic perspective.
